Tennessee freshman defensive lineman Omari Phillips has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, coach Derek Dooley told govols247 on Tuesday.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am over this kid. Send him packing. I think he's made it abundantly clear that he doesn't want to be here and that's fine. Let him go and best of luck to him.

What's the advantage of suspending him instead of giving him the boot? Is there a difference on where/when he can transfer to after he leaves? I'm guessing if he leaves on his own, he has to sit out longer or can't transfer to an SEC school. Anybody have any idea?

Since he isn't bound to a LOI, he can pretty much transfer anywhere he wants. If he ends up transferring to another division 1 school, he will have to sit a year.

Hope this kid gets it together wherever he goes. Just hate to see talent wasted for no reason at all. Get it together young man and try making a future for yourself ACADEMICALLY and athletically.
