Four-star linebacker De'Shaun Davis of Vigor High School in Mobile, Ala., who claims 10 offers to date, is ranked the No. 15 inside linebacker in the 2014 class by 247Sports.

I'm not a star man but someone must think he's a keeper. The 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013 classes totaled 42 4* and 5* players combined. Bray, Hunter & Patterson left for the NFL this year as juniors. Thirteen others were either dismissed or never made in in due to grades. That's 16 lost out of 42. You do the numbers. Stars are only a prediction, a probability of future ability. First they have to want to be Vols. Second they have to realize they need to learn, be coachable and third, they have to have decent character and stay out of trouble and study. From his interview, this young man seems to be looking at recruitment as a young man should. Hope he also considers what the Vol For Life Program can do for him. He now has to run the visit gauntlet. Hope he returns.

Well reasoned argument there, clrstory. I am of the same mind about the star system. How many 2 and 3 star guys are in the elite echelons of the NFL? A whole bunch, I can tell you that.
