The Tennessee football team is practicing Monday morning inside the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center, and govols247 staff writers Wes Rucker and Ryan Callahan are on hand to post updates below.
UT head coach Derek Dooley and some of his players are expected to be made available to reporters after the approximately-two-hour practice, with interviews tentatively scheduled to begin at 11:20 a.m. EDT.
The Vols open the season Friday night against N.C. State in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, and they’ll have to face the Wolfpack without departed junior All-SEC wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers, who was suspended indefinitely last week and reportedly has started team meetings at nearby FCS program Tennessee Tech.
As for the rest of UT’s receivers, junior first-teamer Cordarrelle Patterson (right shoulder) practiced Monday morning in a green, no-contact jersey but is expected to be good to go Friday night, and highly touted true freshman reserve Jason Croom was back on the field after sitting out a few days last week with a minor hamstring issue.
Sophomore Vincent Dallas, who played receiver last season but moved to defensive back this summer, was back practicing with the offense Monday morning. He was moved back to his old position over the weekend to help provide suddenly needed depth.
