Notebook: Stone's switch 'major'

James Stone

Just three days into spring practice, Tennessee sophomore center James Stone says he's "becoming more natural" at snapping right-handed.

James Stone, Tennessee's rising sophomore center, continues to adjust to snapping right-handed this offseason after using an unorthodox, left-handed snap late last year.

    • Its very awkward to switch hands. My old roommate broke his left collar bone and he didn't want to throw with injured arm so we would pass baseball and football etc. He was a lefty and I'm a righty, so we switched it up . I learned to throw lefty and him righty. Man it was ugly at first, but after a while we got better and now I can bat and throw with both hands. So stone will go through some crazy adjustments but he will be ok.

    • Honestly this scares the crap out of me. I understand it's still more optimal than snapping left handed. At least it's James Stone who's being asked to do this. Anyone else in the world and I'd have my doubts. I'll still be watching this with eagle eyes though.

    • Ryan, the OL stuff is great keep it coming, that is where we build the champions. Great to hear that Marcus is pushing for playing time after three days in spring. Hoping this OL gets to work and we can do some damage his fall! Would love to have a OL update everyday, they are the engine of the Big Orange Train!

    • Ryan, side note was that you in the STL Cardinals hat! man that looked good, is that why Wes was not gettng to CDD with questions did not want the Cubs to get shamed at UT spring football...lol had to point that out!roflmao

    • I honestly don't get this. Being a left-hander, I do everything left handed except golf, and I play right handed because back in the dark ages when I learned how to play, it was hard to find left handed clubs. There has always been a bias against left handers --- "You can't do it that way!" Why, I ask, why?

Somebody please tells me why it matters? Is it the backwards spin on the shotgun snap? When a QB is under center, you deliver the ball to the same spot no matter which hand you use. Like other posters, it seems to be that making him change is unnecessarily scary. It could be like Florida last year when the lights come on.
