Fowlkes still turning UT heads

Steven Fowlkes

Versatile senior defender Steven Fowlkes works on pass-rushing moves during Tennessee's Tuesday practice on Haslam Field.

Perhaps Steven Fowlkes wasn't just a classing spring practice superstar, after all. UT's versatile senior defender is still turning heads early in preseason camp.

    • Great story.

I watched the interview with Sentimore where he said he was the 1st reamer because Fowlkes couldn't play the run as well.

Do you think he has time to develop into a 3 down guy?

    • Fowlkes is going to be one of those feel good stories this year. I hope he can do well for himself this season.

    • Fowlkes has been a great surprise this year. I love when a kid "gets it", grows up, and works hard. I hope to hear his name a lot this year and see him make a name for himself.

Oh, and you just gotta love Coach Sal too. He has high expectations and expects the best effort, but he makes the players believe and want to be their best.

    • There is a picture slowly emerging that makes this staff look very good. They believe in these kids, they let them know they believe in them and they let them know what effort is necessary to achieve what they and the coaches want. It's really the communication of expectations and positive reinforcement stirred in with good/great coaching. +1 and thanks Wes.

    • Just go around to reading this today. Nothing I like better than a comeback story. Hard work goes a long way in getting you where you want to go. Love CSS and all the new coaches. They just may get this defense to overachieve this year. GO VOLS!
