Whenever a head coaching job opens in the NFL or at a major college football program, Jon Gruden's name is inevitably brought up as one of the candidates. Notre Dame, Penn State, Miami, Arkansas and Tennessee are college programs to which Gruden's name has been linked in recent years.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders coach has won a Super Bowl in the NFL, and is one of the games most recognized coaches – even though is currently a broadcaster/analyst with ESPN and Monday Night Football.
Gruden's name has been linked to Tennessee coaching openings at other times in the past, and anytime his name is brought up now it is met with chuckles, scoffs and ridicule for the person even suggesting that Gruden could be a candidate to coach the Vols.
