Vols lead for Ga. running back

Treyvon Paulk

Three-star junior running back Treyvon Paulk of Milton (Ga.) High School holds more than a dozen early scholarship offers.

A junior running back from Milton (Ga.) High School says Tennessee is at the top of his list following his trip to Knoxville last weekend for the Vols' first junior day.

    • We have a great shot at signing one of the top classes next year. The legacy class!

    • Think they attempt to sign at least 3 RBs next year Ryan?

I hope a Vol rep moves in next door to the Hurds. Jalen is a must get IMO.

    • 5'9" 190...That's a bowling ball. What kind of speed does he have?

It's going to be really great watching this staff recruit for an entire cycle. The feeling--simply from reading up on what is printed, what recruits are saying, and what the coaches themselves are saying--is awesome! I look forward to hearing what the players have to say about this staff when spring ball starts. I look forward to seeing how effective they are at coaching.

That's why I was sorry to see Pittman go. The players loved him and the Oline was obviously well-coached. That's the best possible situation.

If this staff can relate to and coach players as well as they develop recruiting relationships...then UT is truly on the rise.

HURD is the word. We are playing catchup with him, but this staff seems relentless. Thankfully, they'll have plenty of time to impress.

    • I have a love/hate relationship with early commits. It gives me comfort but this class everyone had several strays and had to work extra hard to hang on to them. The biggest will hold out to the end to massage their egos. That turns me off. I prefer good young men who are hungry to learn and want to grow. I will not get caught up in star chasing again this year. I am sick of five star egos with one star attitudes. Let Saban and Meyers hire their babysitters. We now have a game day coach and we are going to lay some wood on somebody this season.

That speed from 2 years back sounds pretty promising even if it was hand timed. I haven't seen video, but that frame with that speed sounds like power, explosion and balance. We could use some of that.

No doubt. His film looks fast and very shifty. He does seem like a guy who could do things with the ball in space. He does not look like he's as fast as Jabo on film though--or Hurd. And the thought that he could get the tough 2 or 3 yards--I am not so sure about that. But the kid is probably still growing. If he puts on another 20 pounds of muscle, then it's a different story. Great recruit to be watching early.

    • Ryan, thank you for such an exceptional story on a promising prospect. The ink is barely dry on the 2013 LOI's and here you are cranking out great reads on the 2014 class! With articles like this and the greatest posters/board on the web, it is little wonder that 247 is rising to the top! clap

    • Ryan, is it fair to say that if the coaches impress this kids dad that they could land him in the next couple weeks? It sounded like that from the story you featured. If so, that would be a huge pick up early in the game for a huge position of need going into next years signing day.

      TIA

    • Umm, I thought Butch swore he did not run the spread? BJ used spread offense like a bad word. Yes he runs a version of the spread good they now admit that. I wonder if he will admit he may have a good staff but best staff in America is a reach too

Agreed, this Hurd kid had every defense in the state playoffs quaking in their cleats..The young man is a beast. Paulk also has a frame that will fill out like a Barry Sanders type physique..This is looking good for 2014...GBO!!
