The latest update to the Top247 for the 2013 class once again included plenty of Tennessee’s remaining targets, along with one of the Vols’ current commitments, among the nation’s best prospects.
Athlete Jalen Reeves-Maybin made his debut in the Top247 for the 2013 class with the latest update to 247Sports' rankings.
One of the top players on UT’s board even made his debut in the rankings.
Four-star athlete Jalen Reeves-Maybin of Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., made one of the biggest moves in the updated rankings, cracking the Top247 for the first time as the No. 126 overall prospect and the state’s No. 2 player in the 2013 class.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Reeves-Maybin, who will participate in Nike’s The Opening this week in Beaverton, Ore., now stands behind only cornerback Jalen Ramsey of Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy — who’s now ranked No. 64 nationally — in 247Sports’ 2013 prospect rankings for the state of Tennessee.
Tennessee’s lone Top247 commitment for the 2013 class, four-star safety Kameron Miles of West Mesquite (Texas) High School, checked in at No. 169 in the latest rankings.
Many of the nation’s top 100 prospects still are being pursued by the Vols, including five-star athlete Derrick Henry of Yulee, Fla., who’s ranked No. 15 overall, and five-star safety Vonn Bell of Ridgeland High School in Rossville, Ga., who remains the No. 19 prospect in the 2013 class.
Former UT cornerback commitment MacKensie Alexander of Immokalee (Fla.) High School, who’s still considering the Vols, is now at No. 22 overall.
Other uncommitted Tennessee targets among 247Sports’ top 100 for the 2013 class include five-star defensive lineman Montravius Adams of Vienna, Ga., at No. 3, defensive end DeMarcus Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., at No. 44, safety Tahaan Goodman of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., at No. 48, offensive lineman Tyrone Crowder of Rockingham, N.C., at No. 66, running back Alvin Kamara of Norcross, Ga., at No. 68, defensive lineman Kelsey Griffin of Hoschton, Ga., at No. 81 and wide receiver MarQuez North of Charlotte, N.C., at No. 85.
UT continues to pursue a number of players who are ranked just outside the top 100, including cornerback Brendan Langley of Marietta, Ga., who’s ranked No. 102 nationally, and running backs A.J. Turman (No. 119) and Derrick Green (No. 123).
The Vols also remain in the picture for a number of other Top247 prospects, including four-star athlete Nadir Barnwell (No. 138) of Piscataway, N.J., running back Jordan Wilkins (No. 145) of Cordova, Tenn., offensive lineman Reeve Koehler (No. 146) of Honolulu, running back Tyshon Dye (No. 160) of Elberton, Ga., and running back Tarean Folston (No. 179) of Cocoa, Fla.
