Three-star DT Owen Williams
Owen Williams committed to Tennessee less than a month ago, switching his pledge from Texas Tech to the Vols near the end of his official visit to Knoxville.
He made his decision official Wednesday morning.
The three-star redshirt sophomore defensive tackle from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan., signed with Tennessee on Wednesday, becoming the second official member of the Vols’ 2014 signing class and giving them some much needed help on the defensive line.
Williams’ signing was confirmed just minutes after four-star wide receiver Lavon Pearson of Feather River College in Quincy, Calif., gave Tennessee its first signee for the 2014 class.
The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Williams is ranked the nation’s No. 17 junior-college defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets.
A former standout at Westside High School in Macon, Ga., Williams recorded 48 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and a forced fumble in 11 games this season at Butler.
