Anyway, he is a 3rd year head coach whose salary has gone from something like 1 mil to 2.5 mil in less than 3 years. His pay is increasing at an astronomical rate. You don't suggest we should have paid a first year head coact 3.5 million dollars do you?
End of the day the money isn't an issue. We are one of the richest most financially secure ath departments in the nation. If he leaves it wont be because we were out bid.

The thing is when football is winning and we have good teams coming in to play us like Clemson and fl state coming every other year in acc we will sell out the stadium and people will beg to get in the game and facilities we compare to anyone. If he can get top 25 recruiting classes at louisville in the big east who knows wat he can do in the acc or even the sec with UT. But then again he's not worth this kind of money right now in his career I mean that puts him in the top 8 and has yet to when a BCS game

As a UL fan and no matter how this turns out I feel like I have a vested interest in the UT job search. I've been following this non-stop just like you guys :-)
I hope Charlie stays at UL (and like others have said it won't be about money), but if he leaves I wish him the best at Tenn. I think most of your fans are spot on in their evaluations of him, very good recruiter, great defensive coach, old school football coach (hard work in the weight room and classroom), still green though and the UT job might be a little much for him at this point.

As far as facilities, bigger doesn't mean better. But hey, at least your school is all over the news in your coaching search. Strong turns down the Vols/SEC...Gundy turns down Vols/SEC...Gundy turns down Vols/SEC AGAIN...Strong tells UT to "get up off of the ground and quit begging, it's unbecoming of an institution that used to be good at football-I'm sure one of my assistants might be interested in wearing that putrid orange color if you ask nice enough"
While our "irrelevant" little Big East school is plastered all over the ESPN because AU, TN and Arky want our little coach. With no return interest. Ouch.
