#1 Rivalry?

Who is our #1 rivalry in your mind? I am in my 20's so by far its the Gators. I cannot stand anything about them. I think it has more to do with all the gator "fans" around here, rather then them winning all the time. Most of the gator "fans" in Tennessee haven't been there to see a game or no anything about them except for that one week out of the year. To me its just an easy way of saying u hate the vols for no reason.

Every thing goes in cycles. We've had periods where we dominated 'Bama, Georgia and Florida so the rivalry remains despite our current down cycle. It's the history not the current cycle that makes a rivalry.

Being an older Vol fan (50+ years) my biggest rival is and always will be Alabama. They are the real deal IMO (old money) and UF is just "new money". I get the most excited when Bama comes to town.

BAMA..... We didn't play florida every year until the league added Arkansas and USCe and split into divisions.....

As an older guy it's Bama for me too. I also miss the days when we played Auburn early in the season every year (it stopped when the SEC split into divisions). That was a very underrated rivalry and many fans of both schools made the road trip. It was a class series.

I am also in my 20s, and I loathe Bama. I do have a lot of hate for Florida, but there is nothing like the Third Saturday in October.

It's Bama and it is not even close as long as we play them every year and as long as it counts against winning the SEC east too. If either of those ever change....then it has to be UGA or FL then USCe. Vandy and KY are rivals in basketball only.

I feel that it is either Bammer or Flarduh, but we haven't won a game in so long against either one that I feel our best rivalry now is Vandy, Kentucky, or South Carolinny. I've never considered Georgia a rivalry.

Florida for me. However, Neyland stadium is on a whole different level when Bama rolls into town. Just a different atmosphere than any other game.

Hope we beat them both but if I had to pick one we could win I would take Florida, its not as old as the bama rilvary but I've hated them since Spurrier was coach. Don't get me wrong he's a great coach but I hate his cocky lil a*s. Plus if we win that game it usually puts us in the drivers seat to win the east. The hell with the both of them, can't stand either one. Go Vols

I totally feel the same way- even when the Florida game was huge in the late 90's and early 2000's it didn't have the same feel as the third Saturday in October.

It depends on how old you are, if you were born in the last 30 years then it would be florida, the old timers will always say bama. Ut v bama is the most historical rivalry in the sec, its the powerhouse of the east v powerhouse of the west in the best conference in college football. Its the two greatest coaches in college football history- the general vs the bear. It's held inside two palaces of college football- bryant denny vs neyland stadium. But I must admit, the arrogant program of florida and its spoiled fans are hard to look over.

Bama. No question. Raised in the 70s which saw no Vol wins. Beat the Bear in his last campaign in 1982.
Not even close IMHO.

I grew up in the ninetys so bama was irrelevent during most of my life while tennessee and florida were battling for sec champs

the 90s was only one decade of tennessee football history..... Florida is a rivalry and a fun game.... But it is not The Third Saturday in October.....
