Thanks tnbear! I have lived and worked in Newport for 4 years and became interested in the legend of the late Popcorn Sutton. When I found a pic of him with another legend, Jesco White, aka the Dancing Outlaw, it was too good to pass up. Since Cocke Co. is known for it's fine "spirits", I would love to see a moonshine museum in Newport some day. The avatar is just a reminder to figure a way to make it happen.

Thanks to all you guys for making this site fun and informative! All of you are the reason that I joined up! Hey, volviking, I am just over the hump from you in Morristown. Had a buddy introduce me to Pop a few years ago and I got a kick out of the fact he called me a city slicker cause I was from a big town LOL! Great character and great likker! Keep on that idea of museum.

that is soo funny that you said that as i had some of that this Christmas - the stuff was amazing and apparently not very expensive either ; the guy told us that he had i think he said Blueberry ( higher proof ) as well but he preferred the Apple Pie the best . He told me where he got the stuff and i need to take a ride over there and get some more for all of us . wow it was great but also pretty strong as well

gr82, we hope to have a similar set-up in Newport like they have in Nashville. The response to Popcorn's Tennessee White Whiskey has been so strong, expansion appears to be a necessity. Efforts are underway to have a distillery in Cocke Co., Popcorn's home base, and try to get a museum/gift-shop/restaurant in downtown Newport, just off I-40. Thoughts are it would be very successful and much more accessible that the distillery in Gatlinburg. Also have a copy of "Me and My Likker" and was lucky enough to get Popcorn to sign it - it is a fun read!
My apologies to the rest of the board for getting OT about the Big Orange, but sometimes I can't help myself when it comes to Newport/Cocke Co. and Popcorn's "likker"!
