  • I would say that what you are saying is right. Any college can win on any given Saturday, but you know that when you have the talent in upon talent waiting to play hence Alabama your chances of losing are slim. Not saying that we cant be great just saying I was hoping for a better class.

    I'm not sure how the 247composite works, because Scout, Rivals, and ESPN all three have Vandy ranked higher than us. 247 and 247composite are the only ranking systems that have us ahead of Vandy.

    Well I know this is a 247 site but from what I have read most of the day this is the only site that has us ranked ahead of Vandy. Rivals, Scout and Espn have us ranked behind them. Not saying I prefer their ranking just stating what they have.

    Yes - in isolated instances - Boise can beat a UGA and Utah can beat a Bama, but over time the talent wins and competes for championships year in and year out.

    both UT and VU have the same # of 4* players (5). They have no one anywhere close to North and Carr in this class. Wait til you see Dobbs vs McCrary at QB....Dobbs will be vastly better when its time for him to play. Go look at their playmaking WRs vs our class.....its like the Atlanta Falcons vs KY. They also lacked big uglies in a huge way with NOT one being a 4*....we signed Carr and Sanders and I guarantee you Wiesman is better than any OL they signed as Ohio St even wanted him and he was the #1 OL at our camp with Skipper and Koehler etc there.

    Another site: Vandy leads 22 to 29 but that is hilarious with 12 4* players for them

    Another site: Vandy leads but their equation has to be counting the lower ranked players to help their ranking as we have 4 4*s to their 3 3*s and might be adding points for the 5 lower ranked players Vandy has that UT does not in this class bc of its class sizes 27 to 21 players. Something isnt adding up from the eye test on this site.

    ****247SPORTS Composite: UT is 25th and VU is 30th. And the 247 ranking is UT 27th and Vandy 35th. Vandy has NO one in the top 235 in the nation. UT has a bunch.....JRM 232, R Jenkins 196, North 155, Carr 117, and the most important position on the field QB Dobbs at #107.

    Those classes are not even close. IMO those other sites are using the extra 6 lower rated players to build points or miss ranked on some players or has Vandy ahead of UT only bc of 3* players that are ranked higher as 3*s and that is not a good guage.

    Hope this helps. Not that it matters in the end but wanted to break it down and offer my opinion. We have many more elite difference makers in this class. No coach would swap UTs class for Vandys.

  • Here's the deal... Regardless of where Vandy landed compared to UT, WE"RE COMPARING OUR CLASS TO VANDY. That's absurd!

    Please quit making the Boise St reference to the 1 hard game they won all year. If Boise St played our schedule with the 2, 3, and couple of 4 stars, they would have gotten murdered. It's not apples to apples comparison.

    I was just answering a post...........everyone knows its only FL and UGA we need to beat to get to the SEC title game.........you can barely consider USCe IMO.

  • We may have not the best class of recruits on high school paper but who knows how Coach Jones can take a young three star and become what should have been a five star. And i believe with a year now to recruit our next class we will see how great Butch can be as a recruiter. My last post for the night here great class for 30 days or more to salvage the train wreck of such a joke of a head coach dooooooley

    So true, it is amazing how the people here blast people for having an opinion that's not popular. It was one of the reasons I joined to see if it was different here. I guess the Internet Badazzes join pay sites to. lol The Auburn thing washes in the face of those who use the we only had a month excuse.

    why go onto this site and post a message about Vandy's ranking from other sites? everyone is allowed to post their opinion and everyone shows their agreement or disagreement with up/down votes..you are entitled to post your opinion and everyone else is entitled to their up or down about your post.rockon

    The key is only FL and UGA really out recruited us.....we have a better class than Vandy again (only ESPN only really thinks Vandys is better). We are basically tied on one site and kill them on the other 2 sites. We also are very similar to USCe class. You could easily make the argument that we are tied for 3rd in the east and thats what really counts at this point bc that is all we should worry about is winning games now and maybe competing for the the SEC east title in 2015.

    In my opinion, the "key" is that we are actually discussing whether or not we out-recruited VANDY! Think about that for a minute. Out-recruiting Vandy is supposed to be a foregone conclusion. The fact that we're debating it tells you how big a problem we've got.

    I'm also not buying the excuse that Jones only had a month to put together the class. Jones was hired at UT about the same time as Hugh Freeze was hired at Ole Miss. Look at their class and look at ours. I'm just sayin'...

    You can ignore both the Scout and ESPN rankings since they exclude JUCO players. So that leaves Rivals (which seems to be getting less and less reliable by the week), the 247, and 247 Composite...

    Also, the debate of quantity vs. quality - granted Vandy has more points thru more recruits but our avg rating is higher - which is more important in your eyes. Of course what could also be said to some(not you tntoak) - which is more important for your agenda
