is the win/loss record of the teams that have beaten the Vols. Just saying let's have a little perspective here.
Florida 7-1 - only loss to Georgia Georgia 7-1 only loss to South Carolina Miss St 7-1 only loss to Alabama Alabama 8-0 South Carolina 7-2 losses to LSU and Florida
Unless you can replace Dooley with Gruden, I would give him one more year. With as much bad luck Dooley has had, the Vols are bound to have better luck next year.

Exactly! Dooley is making strides.
IMO - Dooley embraces the school, our fans, our tradition, great with alumni and great with the media. He fixed the running game with average running backs and the kicking game is much better except for the kickers (easy fix b/c the foundation and philosophy is there, so recruit a 5 Star kicker). If the defense can get turned around, I think we can compete for league championships.
As I have said before, if we could get Gruden, I would replace Dooley. But to replace Dooley with someone who is not a proven winner is a huge RISK.
I would give him another year b/c he is young enough to learn from his mistakes and smart enough to capitalize on opportunities going forward.

I would rather lose to Vandy if that's what it takes to get Dooley out the door. I won't root against my team when the day comes, but looking at it from far away I can accept it if it's what it takes to get Dooley out of here.
Plus, I just think it is going to happen. Unlike Dooley Franklin is actually a good coach, one who can get his guys to play above their talent level.

Remember, Candy just dropped OSU and Northwestern from their schedules via us mail. So he is getting better by playing lessor teams.
Look UT is in a no win situation with some of the fans--we drop a good team fromthe schedule and work to get some wins that way we are weak, we keep strong teams and we are not smart need to take a break from the SEC schedule. No win with some of the A-hole opinions.
One thing is for sure-if you listen to the USCjr players post game you would realize what they said and what they thought of our coaching ability. If you are so narrow minded that your message board coaching ability is that good and choose not to open your view point then yes you are a legand in your own mind.

So what had you rather have a coach that runs a dirty, classless program goes 12-0 or 11-1 each season or a coach that runs clean program with class and dignity yet has ups and downs ? Personally I would rather be able to be proud of my program so maybe we don't win has many games but we do the right way . Dooley does it the right way we have a program you can be proud of ,one that has class and dignity not strife and scandal. So, maybe we do not win has many games as we hope for but the wins will come . There is something to be said for stability in College Football , 3 years does not constitute stability.

So any team that is winning 10-12 games a year is "dirty" and "classless"? This has got to be the most asinine comment ever made on this board and it surprises me none that RockytopATL agrees with it. How you guys can try and defend him at this point astonishes me. All I keep hearing is excuses and more excuses which Dooley said himself before the year started that this was the year of no excuses. He has now ruined the longest winning streak against a conference opponent in the country by losing to a pathetic UK team and we are now in the same company as Vandy as being the only two teams to ever start 0-5 in the conference for 3 years in a row. There are a couple of coaches out there who I personally feel would be worth making a change for and it is only if we cannot get them do I believe Dooley should be retained because you are right about one thing, stability is undeniably important. But please quit defending him, it makes absolutely no sense.

It's like this winning streaks come and go . I don't believe that I said any program that wins 12 or 11 games is dirty and classless, it was simply a question what had you rather have . What had you rather Bobby Petrino or Derek Dooley ? Jim Tressel or Derek Dooley ? need I continue . Sure there are other coaches that run clean programs and win titles, name one that's on the market right now or will be at season's end . You can't because no program will dump a coach like that they will simply ride it out . So, please quit hanging him out to dry it's getting really old or as you so eloquently put it " makes absolutely no sense " .
