***A Signing Day salute and huge THANK YOU***

  • Well said Wes. I have found a home here. There are many of us "displaced" Vols scattered all over the country. This place gives us all a little piece of home. Really, thank you for that. Can't tell you how much that means.

  • Damned if I don't feel like I won the Miss America contest.

I've said it before but the foundation here is good journalism and you guys get that done every day.

The other thing here is the posters' commitment to civility, good humor and mutual support. I moderated a Vol chat board once and it was a nightly cuss fight. No fun.

    Onward with class.

  • Wes...you and Ryan and Kevin are the best. Now, some of you are better than the others, but that's a different story.
I am one of the early members here, thought I would take the free trial period and then be gone, but it turned out a little different than planned. I was only here for football info, and have stayed because I've made some good friends and enjoy the conversation. Sports wise, I'm still only here for football, but this place is much more.

Thanks to the 247 family for making this a great place to be!!!!!!

    Thanks, Smokey!

That's a heck of a testimonial. If we ever need someone for a commercial for the site you'll be part of the casting call, for sure!

Thanks, Kevin! If you ever need for one, just hit me up with a PM.

  • Wes, I just got the chance to read this. simply said, you guys are just awesome. I have been here a year now and it only gets better. I find myself not being able to get through a day w/o bouncing on 24/7 and checking in. now that my text alerts are working it has even gone to another level for me. I travel quite a lot for work and this site is my traveling companion these days. I for one find it refreshing to see hard work (you guys) in action. this site is a part of my daily life these days. thanks for keeping it real and thanks for putting so much into this.

  • Thanks pal, glad I joined but it has become an addiction. I check this site at least 10 times a day and that's a conservative number.

  • Thanks Wes. I don't post a lot obviously, but I'm on the board everyday reading the latest updates and getting different perspectives from the Vol Nation on a multitude of topics.
I truly appreciate the hard work that goes into running/managing this site (or message board). And I also appreciate the efforts and input from the Vol Nation that make the site special.
I grew up in East Tennessee, went to school at UT ( THE UT) and now live on the coast just outside of Wilmington, NC. But this site keeps me "in tune" and up to date with my Volunteer family. And that's why I am a subscriber. It's not about W's and L's for me.....it's about Orange. I've always said, "Once you get the orange in your blood, it never comes out". And I still believe that.
So, thank you guys for "giving your all for Tennessee today". And thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of the GoVols247 family.

  • Wes, Kevin, Ryan: You guys do a great job and it is not said enough. You guys were right on top of the Dooley situation, the coaching search to replace him, to likely signees throughout the recruiting process even when there were conflicting reports you guys were more accurate than anyone I saw. I follow the board daily and I will also say that there are some pretty wise and well-informed posters on here also. Way to go guys and keep up the great work! To all things ORANGE!

Thanks, volnsetn. Appreciate your kind words and those of everyone else. Means more than you can possibly know. We have done, are doing and will do great things here, and we've only been around two years. Amazing, and it's all thanks to you guys.

  • I am still relatively new, but I love this board. Wes, I am a huge BRAVES fan, but I don't like the Cards either. When I was growing up in Chattanooga, I can remember the day that we got cable television in our community (Not too many moons ago, I'm 44) and the only two things I wanted to watch were the Braves and Cubs if the Braves were not on. While I don't follow the Cubs as I do the Braves, a good Cub team and a bad Cardinal team always helps baseball.

To the subject of this post, thanks for all you guys do. It is a great site and I am thoroughly enjoying it! Keep it up!

Finally, I do get a kick out of watching Wes fight on twitter. Wasted time for you Im sure but its quite entertaining.
    God bless you all!

  • In piggybacking off what Wes said ....

I want to thank you guys for making this board, this community and this site so awesome. You have helped us become the largest site on the 247Sports network that was started from scratch. We are No. 4 in the company, and we have passed great sites with excellent staffs that have been around for much, much longer.

I think a lot of folks here saw what we're capable of during the coaching search and this recruiting cycle. Wes and Ryan owned it, and that isn't really even debatable. In addition to our news coverage, though, this board has become a fun place to be 24/7, too. Whether it's the WWW threads or Wednesday with (insert user here) threads, our awesome balance of OT topics, our fantasy leagues and pick em games, etc. - we are building a giant online family.

We've celebrated births, engagements and other milestones. We've mourned losses, helped one another through hard times and have been sure to thanks folks like our servicemen and women who protect our freedoms. I truly love this place.

All that said, today isn't an ending. It's the first day of the 2014 recruiting cycle! This UT staff has some big junior days coming up, and we'll cover them wall-to-wall. Our VIP Rooms will continue to bring you all the scoop and behind-the-scenes stories on the various programs. This spring practice is going to be enormously important, and there are going to be tons of story lines to follow - and we'll have them all for you.

As you know, recruiting never stop - especially with this staff! Vic Wharton is already committed. Corey Vereen committed last March, so you never know when a prospect will pull the trigger and commit. The process is so expedited these days, offers are already out in the class of 2016. We'll keep you up to speed on all of it.

As a company, Shannon Terry laid out what is coming in the short and long term. We haven't just promised things, we've delivered them - and technology and innovation will always be keys for us going forward. In case you missed Shannon's note, I'll link it below.

Lastly, I wanted to reach out and say that If you have been a monthly subscriber and know you like the site and plan to stick around, it is a benefit to both you and us to upgrade from monthly to annual. You actually save money with an annual subscription. It amounts to $8.95 per month instead of $9.95. The only difference is you get billed once a year for the full amount ($107.40) instead of being billed 12 times. This can be a benefit for some, too, because they only have to explain once charge to their significant others. biggrin

In addition to the cost savings, annual subscribers are eligible to sign up for our text alert service free. Because of the costs of building, using and maintaining this service, right now text alerts are only available to annual members. I know a lot of folks were happy to have the alerts - especially yesterday when faxes were rolling in.

Having more annual members also allow us to plan for the future, budget and determine if/when we might be able to hire additional staff to help Wes and Ryan cover the Vols. I think we are getting close to being able to possibly add another staffer, but we'll need a pretty good push over the next 6-9 months. The stability of annual memberships gives us a much better idea of what we can and can't afford in the future.

Thanks again for everyone's support and for making this such a great place to be every day.

Since we have all eyes on us right now, it’s probably a good idea to go over some of our production plans for the next few months. First,

  • Kevin/Ryan/Wes:

The reason this site has grown so much is because of the foundation you put in place from day one, and your tireless efforts to bring the best and most accurate information to the board. You like to give a lot of credit to the members like myself, but without that foundation already in place, this could easily be a very different atmosphere. All we've done is ramp up the discussion and (to a certain extent) created some of our own features for the board.

  • Very nice and thoughtful post Wes. At the risk of inflating your ego, biggrin you are the reason I joined 24/7. Saw a post of yours on Facebook, ventured over here, and have been addicted since then. Although I did not post much at first, the interaction with you, Ryan and Kevin is unsurpassed! Add in a great community of posters (sans 3 or 4) and this place is like family! clap
