A UT AD employee of 30 years is saying its Butch Jones

this guy isn't on hart inner circle, but he has a buddy in the Cincy AD. He got a call about 2 hours ago saying it was official, Butch is heading to UT. They are prepping for a team meeting.

Not real sure which of the 1000 Butch Jones threads to post this in but I'll try this one. Anybody know much about the guys on Jones staff?

Have a good friend who has a son that plays for UC. I know one thing, his team would do anything for him. He's a players coach. I think that's something we need right now. Might not be the home run hire people are looking for, but lets give the guy a chance before we condemn him.

The funny thing I heard about jones from a Cincy ad official was that if we thought Dooley was a prick, wait until you get butch jones. Good football coach, but a-hole from what this person said. I'm ok with that though.....Saban is a total jerk.
Jones DC coached at Uga at one point.

I think he has some good coaches but he needs to upgrade big time in the position coach area and get a real DC. I could get on board with his OC...seems like a sharp guy. His DC was fired by Richt at UGA back in 2009...no thanks. I would not mind Stripling coming along(DL coach). He has a lot of experience at some good places. His staff really has a lot of Big 10 feel to it which is smart in Ohio. Hopefully he will get some southern flavor in his staff here. I would take Butch, his OC, and his DL/Asst HC.

The CBS article on Jones getting Coach of the Year indicates the exact opposite...

That's a typical Big East staff - overall I'd wager that Charlie Strong has a similar staff at Louisville in terms of experience and background. If he retains Graham and Pittman, can grab Martin from USCw, then get some solid coaches to fill in the gaps he could have a top-flight staff in Knoxville. He might want to keep Hinshaw as well since he and Graham are heading up recruiting at this time.

Pretty sure butch is really the OC, so the title OC is really just another position coach.

Jones should be able to succeed here if he can put together a great staff. Our support from the AD is some of the best in the country. They will give him all the tools necessary to succeed. Hopefully he will not be Dooley 2.0. At least he has a winning record before he comes here.
