  • Our colors were officially adopted as Orange and White in 1892...we first wore Orange during a football game in like 1910 or something. So yes, we did wear black, in the year 1900. I would be willing to bet it was because of lack of resources. I'm ok with alternate uniforms that utilize our official colors. Black is not an official school color though. How come no one is calling for a uniform that uses the navy blue that all UT gear had in the 90's? Because it would be silly to have jerseys in a color that isn't associated with your school at all. It's like Georgia never coming out in a green jersey, even though I'm sure someone could come up with a cool green G logo

  • I don't think it was lack of resources, but you are correct about adopting orange and white in 1892. Here is some more history on the uni's.

Old traditionlist attract no stars, which equals people sitting in the stands with their arms crossed and telling the people in front of them to sit down and quit making so much noise. This happens at football and basketball games and these people need to stay home if they are not going to get involved in the game they are attending.

I agree,+1 to ya. And I also would like to say to the people saying black should not be allowed, what do you say when the baseball vols take the field with all that black on, do you boo them back to the locker room to change?
