  • Put Golden on the short short list. Anyone who can win at Temple is a miracle worker, and we could use a couple. (Or, he just has a lot of luck, whereas Dooley seems to have none.)

Look at how fast Addazio is running it into the ground.

  • Al Golden is 38-45 for his coaching career, and 0-1 in bowl games.

I'm not seeing it as an upgrade by I'm willing to listen.

It's hard for me to argue against those #'s. You would just have to live in Philly to know what Temple was. Why do you think Basilio sticks up for him to. He's a philly guy and knows the difficulties there are at Temple... It's not a safe walk from there practice facility to the dorms.

You certainly could make the same argument for Dooley's 17-20 record at Louisiana Tech, but that didn't matter to many fans.

What hurt Dooley IMO was the 3rd year record... And La Tech ain't close to what Temple is. Golden improved every year. Dooley had the setback year.

Ryan's post was where I was going with Golden's record. It just looks a lot like Dooley's which is why I'm not seeing an upgrade and he isn't making any waves at Miami at 5-5 this year.

I'm somewhat familiar with Temple and agree that program peaked when he was there. The most recent exposure I've had of Temple was this past week here in Cincinnati. Thats said I think UT could draw a better prospect. JMO

It's almost impossible for a team's record to improve every year, especially when building up a lower-tier program. Plus, looking at what Louisiana Tech's current team is doing, it looks like Dooley might have been well on his way to winning big there.

But that's not my point, really. The point was just that a losing record isn't good enough, period, in the eyes of many fans.

Ye I hear ya, and he's not the top of my list, and he shouldn't be near the top of Hart's but there is a reason he is well thought of throughout college football.

A losing record is a losing record, anyway you slice it. Not saying Golden wouldn't be a good hire, but this will be the most important hire in our programs history, we at least need someone who's proved they can win at the D-1 level, and that still doesn't guarantee success, but it will provide hope....for a while at least.

LaTech was a disaster. My son lives 40 miles away and did some of his doctoral studies there plus he knows quite a few of the folks in that area who can tell you how bad it was. Maybe not as bad as Temple but I would not be so dismissive of the LaTech train wreck. As for the 'setback year' he had a truck load of injuries and played in a more difficult conference(JMO).
