Alabama offers UT commitment

  • Doesn't sound like we will be able to hold on to this kid. Which sucks but we will get someone else that can help us. We have to prove it on the field before we start getting the top guys at each position again...

  • We just get tired of Alabama seemingly taking whom ever they want. It;s kinda like the jock football player in high school, walking down the hall with his arms around the entire cheerleading squad. It doesn;t seem fair.

  • I said this awhile back all he did was use us to get where he wanted to go. He has no intentions of signing with UT. I will be extremely suprised if he does. We should not accepting commitments if they are not done with there recruiting process. It gets old the rich just get richer !!

Then Tennessee shouldn't ask recruits to look around after they have committed either. It goes both ways.

By all means lets villianize the schools and let the kids get away with everything . The school has to be able to track the amount of players they have commited, so it's ok for the kids to just walk at the last minute after we spend time and resources recruiting them. Yes, we told kids to look elsewhere but why? Did our needs change ? Did their grades change ? Was there something that would give us concern ? Things change over the course of a year.

    Good points!

To be fair, I think some Vol fans are still smarting from losing Santos & Peters late in the game (and Damien Jacobs on JUCO signing day) -- and having several other recruits get wobbly on us late in the game prior to NSD '12. That was a tough roller-coaster to stomach, and they see this recruit as doing something similar.

This kid's obviously a great talent and we'd love to have him. I hope he signs with us, but he's only going to go through this process once, and it's his show to run. All the best to him, regardless.

+1! Best post of the thread! clap

"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!

  • Ryan said in another thread that the coaches treat these early commits just like everyone else. They still have a long way to go with them and will keep recruiting them just like others that haven't committed or even some who have committed to another team.

All I know is, it's way too soon to get to excited about any thing for next years class. There will be so many changes from now until then that it's not worth worrying about this early.

You're not even taking into account the fact that Tennessee recruits players that are committed to other schools.... Dooley also encourages commitments to take other visits. I honestly don't see anything wrong with Alexander wanting offers. He's a 5 star talent that is going to have a lot of schools come after him. If a kid was committed to Alabama, but wanted a Tennessee offer... I'm sure most of the fan base would be cheering for the kid to decommitment from Bama to commit to Tennessee.
