Alright, Butch...

  • Now that the 2012 season is officially over (and our arch-nemesis has won its 3rd national title in 4 years)...you're on the clock. Your task is daunting, but your will is strong; and that's a good start if you ask me. 2013 is gonna be special folks...I can feel it.

  • 2013 doesn't have to be special(although I hope it is). It just has to not suck. 7-8 wins with an upset would get this headed in the right direction. +1 for your post. GO VOLS!

8 wins would be great, although I'd be satisfied with 6 or 7. However, the eternal optimist in me says we go 10-2, win the East, upset Bama in the SEC title game and crush someone in the Sugar Bowl en route to a National Title in 2014. I know it most likely won't happen but hey, a kid can dream, right?

    Go Vols!

  • After the last three seasons, a 7-5 regular season and a bowl bid would be a step in the right direction for Tennessee. While I'd love a 10-2 record as much as anyone else, I'm not sure that's a realistic goal given the strength of the SEC as a whole and the massive improvements that need to be made on defense. With the OL Tennessee has returning, I think Stevie Wonder could play QB and win next season.

Haha. Obviously I don't expect Tennessee to win 10 games, that's being downright delusional. But I don't think 7 or 8 is out of the question. Austin Peay, South Alabama, WKU, Missouri, Vandy, UK and Auburn are all winnable. And a bowl victory would be a nice cherry on top. I expect a bowl appearance this coming season.

Missouri will be a road game next season, and I'm not going to give UT the advantage in that one until I see how they perform next season. I do think that AP, South Alabama, WKU, Vandy, UK, and Auburn should be wins, so that would get the Vols bowl eligible. Winning just one more game between Alabama, Missouri, Oregon, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina is definitely possible, and two might not be a big stretch depending on how some of those teams look next season. Tennessee could have won both the UGA and Missouri games this last season had the defense been even halfway decent.

Very very true, tntoak. You can throw South Carolina in that hat too. All these 4-8, 3-9, 5-7 predictions to me are a bit off-base. Missouri on the road will be tricky, but I think we win that one. South Carolina and Georgia could be the difference between a pretty good step in the right direction and a contract extension for Coach Jones, IMO.

  • The air in Big Orange Country is clean, crisp and refreshing these days. My take is we have a coach and staff who breed excitement and unity. We may not be a 10+ win team this season, but we will be winners. If everyone in the BO Nation would join together and rally behind this staff, be realistic and stop the negative chatter ( which I don't think bothers CBJ) we could see a huge momentum swing rather quickly! I am on this train, how about you?! +1 smokey for your post.

  • If we take care of business and beat the teams were supposed to beat and pull off an upset along the way - Georgia, Florida or SC - it would be a special season for me after the last one.

I really hope CBJ can get a win against a rival this year. It's something we haven't done in awhile and would be a good step in the right direction.

  • IMO, just getting a bowl invite would be improvement. That is a very measurable goal to achieve. Then, to win that bowl game would create some excitement to recruit from and to instill some winning confidence among the returning players for 2014.

  • We have the OL and playmakers on D to beat anybody. Anything can happen when you dominate your opponent's front 7 and force turnovers.
