    I'm not going anywhere. I'm still flying to Eugene next year and spending my money to watch the Vols play. I'm still going to be obsessed and follow recruiting and cheer like crazy.

    But we deserved more than this. This is a settle. We're taking a guy who'd been pursued by Kentucky and Colorado.

    Hope he's good, but we deserve more excitement as fans. This fanbase deserves a lot more excitement, and a lot more to hope for than another maybe good hire.

    Keep in mind the fact that he turned down those jobs at the mere chance of being able to come here. When he turned down Kentucky, he was still on the outside looking in. He wants apparently really wants to be here and I think that is very important.

    Well pastor I personally would never yell at you for no liking the coach but ill tell you why I can get excited about CBJ.
    1) He has won coach of the year award. Not everybody wins this. Gotta be good to win it.
    2) He WANTS to be here. Has turned down three better jobs than he has right now for a chance to be a VOL. makes a world of difference in my mind.
    3) the man has won EVERYWHERE he has been, as a Head coach not a cord.
    4) the man has a lot of players from our recruiting grounds on his team which tells me he can recruit the southern states. I think he can get the "better" players for UT.
    5) He will work his tail off to win at UT. Everything I have read about him people that know him say he puts in 120% to get better. I can live with that effort.
    6) He's not Kiffin or Dooley.

Why did so many of you support Derek Dooley to the bitter end despite ample evidence he was completely incapable of doing that job?

    It is better to be honest. This is a mediocre hire. If Butch Jones is the best Tennessee can do then it's time to stop calling ourselves a major college football program.

    If we don't get mad and make it clear to University administration that we don't support mediocrity they are never going to change. NEVER.

    Arkansas just hired a guy who has been to three straight Rose Bowls. THREE. And we hire this guy, who has basically spent the last two weeks pretending he's the drunk girl with her boobs hanging out at 3 AM in the bar.

    I had to give a +1 for the drunk girl with her boobs hanging out reference.

  • You can be supportive and still call a spade a spade. UT trying to be Stanford at the cost of the football program is unacceptable. UT hiring a guy with a losing record from Louisiana Tech is unacceptable. UT getting turned down publicly and used to get raises by coaches at OSU and Louisville is not acceptable. You can support the school and support the players 100% and not try to pretend the administration is doing just a bang up job in every aspect.

    Some people on here disgust me. I'll be the first to admit I wouldn't be that overwhelmed with excitement from this hire, but I still think it is a good hire. What really bothers me is the people on this site, on twitter, and elsewhere who say they're jumping ship after this hire and yet have some form of VFL in their handles.

    This will be a purging time at Tennessee. The real fans will stick with the program, renew their season tickets, and support our coach no matter who it is. Those who are not true Vol's For Life can go pretend to like Oregon or Notre Dame. We have no room for those kind of people here.

    I have a lot of pent up frustration from this coaching search. Might I be taking it out on these "fans"? Maybe. Do I care? Not really. Who really gives a scensoredt if he lost to Dooley in a single game where he was on the losing end of a talent base?

    I know this is the 100th support our new coach thread, but I had to say what I thought.

    Go America. Go Vols. Go Our New Coach, whoever you may be.

    Damn good attitude,I'm on board with who ever they hire. Why would you not support the new coach? Fla and the dawgs have had down years and yet their stadiums are always full. Both fan bases whine with the best of them. But they still support the team. The team is the players who bust their ass for the Vols 12 months a year. I will be there. Count on it !

    How many years have you contributed to Athletic Dept? How many season tickets to you have? Just interested.
