Am I the Last Dooley Supporter..?

  • Supported him until Mizzou game. Running out the clock was a poor move. Bad enough that you sideline a potent offense, but OT magnifies the weaknesses in a kicking game, and our kicking game is atrocious. Palardy already missed one badly, and he's never been consistent.

    Looking at CDD's entire body of work, you have to be disappointed that he couldn't win a close one. Sneak up and beat somebody! Either he's incredibly unlucky or just not that good. Either way, it doesn't translate into wins.

    Personally, I like the guy. Culturally a good fit, and I believe he viewed UT as a destination job. Hope the next coach has those two qualities as well.

    But you are making my and Dooley's point..the kicking game is so atrocious that facing 3rd and 10 with 35 seconds left, what were the chances of scoring? And "hoping" for the two qualities you listed is not enough for me.. There's not a long list of such candidates. The right guy is already here. Give him enough time to turn this thing around.

    My point on kicking is that it increases in importance in OT, so I'd rather play to our strengths. Many situations where you have to make a kick to tie or ice a game. Heck, we've missed extra points this year. Can you imagine if we lost in OT on a missed XP??? Better win it in regulation if you can. Maybe you get it in the end zone. If not, maybe you get close enough for Palardy to try a 20-25 yarder. Maybe he makes it. Barring a turnover or some special teams breakdown on a punt, you're no worse off.
