Analyst weighs in on Foreman

5'10 - 164 pds and runs a 4.52 according to espn.. And the only offers he had from SEC schools were Vandy and Kentucky. Scout rates him as a two star. I will say again, happy to have anyone who wants to wear the orange, but, at some point folks, we have to start getting commits from some elite players. If you want to get depressed, just run down the commitments of UF, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU..all of whom have over a dozen 4-5 star commitments. That's who we are competing against. And before you start typing, yes, I am aware of our circumstance versus theirs, but excuses dont win football games. We are only going to get further behind in the talent race if we dont close strong in the next month.

Thanks, Frosy. Couldn't agree more. I think, because the Vol Nation has suffered on the recruiting trail and on the W-L record, that there exists a preponderant urge to believe that every three star recruit is going to be one of those overlooked diamonds in the rough that will be an elite talent once he puts on an orange and white jersey. I am totally pulling for Coach Jones and his staff and I hear that they are elite recruiters. Hope so. This is our primary challenge at this point. Next will be for this new staff to instill a winning attitude into a team that is accustomed to losing half their games.

Hate him all you want in your heart. But we have higher standards on this board. Keep it up and risk VIP threads left and right that you will be unable to read.

Where does the hate come from? I hate no one.....Sorry you feel that way.....If you are gonna preach to me, you need to preach to others doing alot more than I....Others cursing....etc.....Being disrespectful to other members....Etc.....having vulgar pics of nearly naked women on their post .I have never done that, and never will. If my Dooley "nickname" is enough for me to be blocked from VIP threads, then so be it. The nick name is neither vulgar, questionable or classless. I haven't become a full member yet for a reason. I wanted to see the value of this board, and the standards it provided. I personally have very high standards, and will strive for nothing less. So far this is one of if not the best board I have seen. If they don't like my nickname....oh well. But I think they have worse things to worry about. God Bless!

OK, so I guess I have to spell it out to you.

Dooley's young son has been and may yet still be a paying member of this board. He doesn't need to come on here and see his dad abused even more than he has been in the last year.

We police this board ourselves, and we senior members unofficially take a lead on it. So when we ask posters to refrain from questionable posts, we don't expect an argument.

Fine...not a questionable post to begin with. Thanks for your understanding! And I humbly apologize to all those who took my post as a questionable slam on Coach Derek Dooley. As I said in an earlier post on this thread, He worked hard and tried his best for the University of TN. He made some good accomplishments, unfortunately was unable to translate that to wins. I have all the respect in the world for him trying, and giving it his all. Don't think he is a bad guy, just wasn't the guy to move us forward. We all make bad decisions now and then, and his unfortunately led to his dismissal. I FULLY supported him from start to finish good bad and indifferent. If he was still here, I would do the same. I hated that he wasn't more succesful than he was. Was I crazy about some of his character traits? No, but that does not translate into hate of ANY kind, and definitely me not respecting him!!!!!!! BTW....I am preaching to myself when I say....we ALL have character traits the everyone is not crazy about. Good thing is as an adult, and an American we have the right to express our opinion, even if everyone doesn't agree. Best of Luck, and I pray great blessings on the entire Dooley family. DD is an inteligent individual who will no doubt land on his feet. Good Luck.

This is my last word on this. Perverting his name to a word known as a synonym for excrement is extremely offensive.

First, I'm not counting this class as done yet, my comment was only directed as to where we are currently as is evidenced by the last sentence of my post. Second, yes, truly, most top classes have lots of three star players, but what separates us from the Alabama's of the world, and what USED to separate us from the likes of Vandy and Miss. St., are the number of elite 4-5 star players we were able to sign. No team is going to compete for SEC championships signing a class full of 2-3 star players. the Big East, maybe, but not in the SEC, where typically half of the top 20 recruiting rankings each year are SEC teams. Just signing a top 20 class means you are staying LEVEL with the competition. Thus, my point was only this - we need to start getting commits from the elite players or this class will be one of the worst in the SEC, and one of the worst we have signed in a while. And with us likely losing Hunter, Bray, CP, Rivera, Rogers, that's not going to carry us through to our next class. We need impact players and we need them now.

As for the predicament of CBJ, you are right, it's a tough gig. But that's why he's getting paid 3 mil a year. You shouldnt get 3 mil a year unless you can produce results, irrespective of the ready made excuses. And he has plenty of excuses for not succeeding. So we can all rest easy knowing that if we are crap for the next several years, at least we have a good EXCUSE for it.

First of all I am neither making excuses for the guy nor am I saying that this is acceptable! I am merely pointing out that the guy has been on the job for all of about 3 weeks and doesn't matter who you are or how much money you make if you're not Nick Saban 4 and 5 star kids are not going to just jump right in and say sign me up. Recruiting is a process, a process by which a kid builds a relationship with the recruiter than the position coach than the coach and the school. If by Feb 6 TN doesn't have at least 8-10 4 and 5 star players I will begin to get a little concerned with the 3 star effort. But Jones had 10 days before the dead period to sign a staff and shore up committed kids and work on new kids. I fully expect to see a couple five stars in this class and several 4 stars, but for now I will be happy to see TN accept a committment from a likely red-shirt guy that has elite speed and will likely help TN in the future! Now if Derrick Green, Carl Lawson, and Reuben Foster all go elsewhere and Jones doesnt sign other highly rated recruits yes I am going to be concerned..... But make no mistake I do not feel this is adequate recruiting for TN. But on any day I will take as many kids as TN can allow on its roster from within TN borders. In other words if TN has to have 10-12 3 star players I would rather they be from right here at home! It is important to keep talent at home so that when rare talent becomes available TN is able to keep those guys!

My last words as well.....As I stated earlier, prior to my apology....it was a reference to a "stool pigeon" not as you referenced to excrement. That is not my style....I will NEVER use a nick name for any coach or otherwise again as one person's meaning can be different than another's. bashed

I am in no way reading through Orange Colored Glasses nor am I hoping TN found a diamond in the rough that analysts overlooked, Barton Simmons plainly stated that the kid has ELITE speed! I am not projecting this nor am I am wishing through orange colored glasses! Simmons also stated that he was rated as a 3 star due to only 2 years starting and being from East TN. Like I said in the previous posts! I gladly welcome an East TN kid with Elite speed that will likely red shirt next year and be a solid player for TN. This does not give Jones a pass and certainly does not mean I lower my expectations for next year! In any year for me TN's floor is 8 wins, no different next year! No passes, no excuses! And TN should never have worse than a top 20 class and I expect this to be the case when all is said and done! And that being said I expect TN to get its share of 4 and 5 star players as well!

No name-calling on this site - vulgar or not. We try to be very consistent with that here. No personal attacks, name-calling, cursing (even with other characters, etc.).

    Thanks for understanding.

Kevin, hope this is a sufficient answer....Was in NO WAY meant as "name calling" was a in nickname only. I have already apologized, and feel that is enough. I already took an unwarranted lashing, and explained myself in a very clear manner. Sorry that it was misunderstood and considered offensive. I feel I have nothing further to say on this issue. Thanks
