Any word on Devrin?

    Swain said he had a "difference of opinion" with the coaches and he "may be back with a new staff" then said it wasn't something to talk about on the air. Got the distinct impression he was considering leaving the program.

  • In my opinion, he got the short end of the stick. He proved, against Miss. State, that he can carry the ball very effectively. He did, however, have that very costly fumble, but Marlin Lane has fumbled plenty and still continues to get snaps.

    That would jive better with the explanation of "personal reasons". If he blew up at staff, seems like they would have said "violation of team policy" or something of that nature.

    Regardless, I really like DY and hope he returns soon.

  • Need him for several reasons. Good character, good person, good player, good teammate and he's from Tennessee

  • These are the worst types of threads IMO. Devrin is what 18? The school announced he was out for personal reasons, why do people need to speculate? It seems like a 3rd string RB should be allowed some privacy.

    ok so its not ok to wonder why a player did not make trip to this game ..? Yes its his right to some privacy but when u are a player on a team and you dont make the trip with the team some may wonder and since we pay or well some of us pay for this site access to info and post about the vols. its not ok to post about this vol and why he not make trip.. sorry but that is not today world. not trying to be rude and if you dv me that is ok too but its ok to talk about this issue it means we care.. if he had a family issue i hope its took care of and its ok now.

  • Obviously we all hope Devrin returns. I wasn't trying to speculate just relaying what Swain said and he seemed to have knowledge of the situation.

  • Hard for me to see DY having an "attitude" problem, however, getting basically forgotten by your HC and OC the entire season can put a lot of stress on a young person. I don't think he was ever used creatively enough. His skill set begs for him to be used on screens and in the slot, yet I don't recall the coaches ever putting him in those situations to succeed.

    I am not going to downvote you at all, just my two cents. Yes, in 'todays world' everybody thinks they have a right to know everything and for some reason paying $X dollars per month makes people feel more entitled to that information, but there is a big difference IMO between info on a coaching search and speculating on the 'personal' reason a player did not make a trip.

    Let's say it was a death in the family, why not respect the player who doesn't want that released publicly. Does it make you a better Vol fan because you know?
