Anyone still think it was reasonable.....

  • to show any financial or administrative hesitation with Gruden? Anyone?

Even if it wasn't ultimately workable we should have went in all barrels blazing and we didn't. And here we are.

  • I still don't believe Gruden moving on had anything to do with UT but with college ball. He is an NFL guy as is being proven by him now flirting with the Raiders again.

Fine, then you make him tell you no with no other excuses. We gave him plenty of other ones.

  • I think that unstable leadership has plagued us for the past 10-12 years. We need strong leadership from the Chancellor down. I think all of these candidates have realized that UT is very unstable at this time.

Agree. He's NFL guy all the way. I'll never believe that he was serious about coaching college unless I hear him say it.

Be specific & name them, please. $ to the exact amount, limits of control, everything you know for a fact.

  • They should be calling Jimmy Sexton or who ever his agent is now and saying what does it take for Gruden to take this job.

  • Gruden was never going to take the job. He's just as unlikely to go back to the NFL. He likes to flirt and get attention and he likes being a TV star.

It has been his MO ever since Tampa Bay fired him.

  • They should be calling Butch Davis and hiring him tonight.

  • In fact, our flirtation with Gruden looked so ridiculous to the rest of the country that it has probably played a big role in all the rejections since.

By all accounts Hart never thought it was realistic or really pursued it. Maybe it wasn't. But why not try, there were plenty of people around the program who thought it was a real possibility? It's not like the dude seems to care about embarrassing us publicly. Have you watched the last 72 hours?

I been on here and on-line quite a bit but never saw anything other than speculation that Hart did not pursue it no matter what the level of realism there was in the opportunity. You are still speculating about the effort he put in or whether he was "not Hart's boy." The info that has come out today about Gruden talking with the Raiders screams he is an NFL guy and he turned down college football more-so than TN. Not sure I follow you on the embarrassing TN part, you mean Gruden?
