Approx. 11 or our top 44 will remain in a year from 2012........

  • I think Jones is a good coach and a real players coach. The key will be how great of staff does Jones assemble (will UT pay?) + IMO the key will be how well he can recruit for 2013 and 2014? How can he close the 2013 class but how will he recruit if we go 6-6 which will be every experts prediction probably?

    We lose a TON of our best players from the prior year off a very avg roster. Replacing them with top players will be the key to Jones tenure at UT

    In the next year (either this offseason or next) we lose:

    Bray
    Hunter
    CP
    James
    McCullers
    Sentimore
    Couch
    Tiny- he goes pro
    Fulton
    Stone
    Bullard
    Neal
    Walls
    Miller and any other RS JRs or true JRs from the 2012 roster like BMoore, Sapp and Gordon etc
    Rivera, ZRogers, DTHomas and any other SRs from the 2012 team

    FYI.......we will have to replace our whole starting OLine and Dline a year from now

    + key injuries to Maggitt and Randolph.....how will they return?

    + we probably lose Bonner, Phillips and Taylor and who else from the 2011 and 2012 class leaves?

    These next 2 classes + who is left from the 2011-2012 classes will answer the question to Jones success or failure at UT. It really is amazing the numbers of who we lose from our 2 deep in the next year. By quick calculations we lose all but 11 of our top 44 from our 2 deep.

    ****Approximately 11 of our top 44 will remain after a year from now. Now that was from a team that went 5-7 and 5-7 but still a HUGE rebuilding task. We know some of those players were not really good too but some were.....12 or more probably gets drafted.

    Recruit, recruit, recruit.........then develop/ coach them up!

  • Between that and a quick look at the schedule next year, looks like its time to get to work and get this thing turned around. Butch has a great opportunity in front of him.

    i think he will recruite very well here and if he hires tee martin ..ide say he can win next year or small bowl game..then we might struggle the next 2 years and maybe not..what sales me on butch jones he coached up 2-3 stars and won with them..so i think we can pull through it.
    i can say ill make all the home games next season ..didnt feel good about dooley hire ..but this hire
    has got me excited ..what if he beats florida next year?right coach we would have this been win this year
    dooley and sal lost the team in 3 quarter late..and we got it handed to us...better days to come

  • One thing that IMO we should do is buyout the Oregon game and replace it with a winnable game and a place where UT actually recruits. AND I hate the idea of buying out a game but this game makes zero sense now and even if we won 7-8 games in 2012.

    I have no problem playing USC or UCLA or Ohio St or VA or Miami bc thats were we recruit. Oregon makes zero sense. Hart should of done this a year ago.
