Are we that bad?

  • Honestly, that we need to put in an All-SEC LB to run the Wildcat? Why even run that package? Why do we need it? Why, Why, Why????? Can we not line up and get 2-3 yards with our OL and RB?

Can Bray not call plays at the line? A 3 year starter in the same system should be able to check down and should have the choice to do so. Either he can't or he can't.

I'm tired of the signal calling excuse. Defense has been in this system since when? March? Damn if you don't know the signals by now.

I'm tired of this 40+ passes a game. Nobody wins in the SEC with it. Even Spurrier ran the ball at UF so don't give me that. He won SEC games by running the ball. He padded his QB stats against lesser teams.

I'm tired of the little things and attitudes costing this team. Somebody needs to grow up and they all know it.

  • Are you really criticizing a package and play that worked beautifully? There's plenty of places to pick apart Chaney's playcalling but that call is not one of them. I think it's a great play call and that's a package I hope to see more of in goal line situations.

Do you think Florida fans asked why they needed to run the wildcat so much with Rainey or Tebow? Or Arkansas with McFadden? It works and I'm all for getting the ball in the hands of playmakers.

On the defense. It doesn't take practices with coaches to learn those calls I wouldn't think. I imagine they had all that information all summer to work and learn. We are coming up on game 4. A missed call or two is understandable but it seems like very play they look confused.

And yes, I'm critizing a package. There is no need with the "talent" up there to use that package.

Florida's offense was nothing more than a Wildcat even with Tebow in the game with Meyer there. His whole offensive system is a Wildcat. Arkansas had a pitiful QB who was so bad he was drafted as a TE in the NFL so I don't blame them. We don't have that problem. Line it up and punch it in or run PA to the TE. To me, it shows weakness or no confidence.

I understand we are short on power runners. Putting AJ in as the RB or FB and letting him plow for the yardage is understandable. Then again, we are so short on LB's that it was stupid to begin with to use him in that situation.

  • All I hear is you "criticizing" and I don't think that you do actually understand, so quit thinking.
The coaches work with these young men everyday and know their capabilities, we don't. Whatever they are working with is how they make decisions, not from watching them during a game and making judgement from their seat.

Go back to VolQuest. This crap is welcomed and encouraged there. Othwerwise, go ahead and jump off the darn bridge. I, and a lot of others, didn't come to this board to read this crap.

Cut the dude a break. A lot of what OP said is accurate. He is just venting, it is a message board who made you king. If you don't like it don't respond. I don't agree with his AJ Johnson remarks, but a lot else is true.

No, his post clearly shows a total lack of understanding. You don't need practices to learn and entirely new defensive scheme and the hand signals that go along with it? Come on. And heck no, I will not cut him a break. I cut him and others breaks for years on VolQuest. I came here because it’s supposed to be different. Mindless ranting and raving will not be tolerated by me. The door won’t hit me in the butt, trust me.

  • It's stupid though when something works you go with it nobody is stopping aj Johnson in the wildcat just to let you know and I went back and saw the replay in that one tiny was lined up at fullback!

I think you mean McCullers, cause he was out there. I thought they were gonna give it to him, as I'm sure most of the Florida defense did too.

If there is one thing from that game that I enjoy thinking about, it has to be the thoughts going through the Florida defenders heads when the monster lined up in the backfield. "I have to tackle THAT!" fingergun

    biggrin

Yeah I don't know why I said tiny lol thanks for the correction

  • If it works why not use it i mean aj did a great job in the wildcat formation. As for the defense why don't you put yourself in their shoes and see if you can learn that defense in as little time as you think they should. I guarantee that you couldn't. As for bray yes he did make some bad decisions but it wasnt just him there were a couple of big play passes that were dropped and could have been caught. I mean people are acting like this loss is the end of the world or something yea it kinda sucks that we lost but come on florida had a better team than most people thought. All that needs to matter is that this team learns from what they did wrong and correct it and not let this loss linger in the back of there minds and let it happen again if they were to get in the same situation again. Here some of us are as fans throwing the blame on certain players when we saw how this team played last year when they threw the blame on certain players they didn't play well. I think this team needs our full support win, lose or whatever and they definately dont need to hear the blame game crap and the ones callin for dooleys head. There is nothing we can say or do to change what happened against florida but this team can learn from it and we can give them our full support like we should be doing. GO VOLS!!!

  • AJ ran it twice- first down and touchdown being the result - do you have a problem with that?

If we put McCullers in the wildcat,.its fine with me. I like my chances with AJ in that situation. We are not exactly consistent in the run dept.

As far as Bray calling plays at the line, I'm not sure. I do find it odd he never really calls an audible, but they may not give him that option.

I think we all expected struggles in the defense. I mean I wasn't good at my job after a few months. Experience leads to consistency, which takes time.

I actually thought the AJ package was the best bit of coaching I saw in the game.....and it worked.
