Arkansas is winning the "coach search"

  • How mad are you going to be if they end up with Peterson or Miles and we end up with Jones or Golden?

  • As tough as it is wondering and reading rumors I am glad this search has been so much quiter than the last. Quite frankly I thought it was very embarrassing to hear about every coach that told UT no until we ended up with Dooley.

    If Arkansas hires either of those 2 they will definitely win the coaching search unless we get Gruden... Jeff Long is a more experienced AD than Dave Hart, widely considered one of the best to.

    I want to know we are trying to compete for these type of coaches and aren't setting our sights on lower level coaches.

  • I agree that the sights have to be set high in this search and I believe that the job is as appealing as it had been in years. I'm just remembering the embarrassment of all the "top" guys Hamilton went after publicly shooting us down at every offer.

    We don't know for sure but I would assume Dave Hart and/or boosters are contacting as many high profile guys as arky and others might be. Just being more quite about it.

  • The only thing Arkansas has accomplished so far is make two coaches richer. Reports are Miles and his agent are meeting with the LSU AD tonight. Fisher will be doing the same thing next week.

    The problem with that ine of thinking is that normally the leak comes from the coaches camp,so Hart can keep his end all buttoned up but like this offer to Miles it didn't leak from Jeff Long.

    You don't know that. Too many off the wall names being thrown around in arky has the feel of our last coaching search where Hamilton wanted us to think they were trying to go big but we all knew they would go cheap. Arky wants fan base to think they are trying to bring in best with these obvious no shot offers to gruden, gundy, miles and Peterson to lessen the blow when they hire a 2nd or 3rd tier guy like we did with Dooley

  • If Arky pays $5.5 million a year for Les the Mess, they haven't "won" anything. The guy is a lousy coach who gets by just because he's loaded with Louisiana talent. If he goes to Arky, they're both screwed and LSU will end up with a better Head Coach.

    Coaches that leak like Miles and Peterson are coaches looking for leverage at their current school. They are not serious candidates. This does not help Arkansas in any way. Jimbo is looking to play this same game with us.

    Seriously why in the he.l would les consider going to ark with what he has in Louisiana?

    I agree. I'd give Les a 5/10 in coaching. He started where Nick Saban left off. Easy to recruit when you win a lot. If Saban suddenly leaves Bama, even I could do a halfway decent job
