Attitude, Attitude, Attitude...

  • I don't post much on 247, but I gotta say there is something different this year (attitude-wise) about this team and coaches. Maybe it's their maturity level, but I just think it's mostly their attitude. Nothing in particular, but we've turned the corner, IMO.

I agree. Dooley doesn't seem as negative with his comments and the team seems to really be positive. I'm excited. Now I've hated being excited the last 5 years and it's only spring, but we have the talent to do much better this year.

I agree, and I think it is maturity. They say experience is the thing you get 20 sec after you needed it. We needed it several times the last two years. This year we have it. The outcome will be different. We may not win many more games but we will be in all of them in the fourth qtr. and that means an exciting season.

I hope you're right. I wonder if one of the 'prayer meetin's' after last season had some player's comments that led Dooley to tone down his criticism of the team some, because I've noticed that too.

Many of our starters this fall will have started since their Fr year. That's probably unusual in the SEC, and it's a lot of cumulative experience. Dooley has also been slowly-but-surely restocking the talent pool on this team. I expect both those things are going to show, and the Vols will be the most competitive this year they've been since at least '09 and probably longer.

  • I think the difference this year is players. An adequate number of quality SEC type players at all positions. Good players gives you the opportunity to be a good coach. Good players and good coaching makesa good team. We are back.

  • after hearing all the assistant coaches interviews after Wednesday practice I can honestly say that I have not heard as much overall optimism as I hear now. I really think this year could bde special. We really feel the offense has a chance to be special and with Coach Sal at the helm I feel better about defense than I have since Chavis was here.
    GO VOLS!!!!

  • Agreed.

I think added depth is a big part of it. I think the competition is bringing out the best in players.

  • I think CDD finaly has the players and coaches to take the next step (SEC CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS). CDD has brought in some really good talent and young men to represent Tennessee on and off the field. The new staff is a major upgrade from what he had to throw together 2 weeks before signing day after he took job. The criticisim will be there if warranted i just think the maturity and character of this team and Coach Dooley's influence on them to beleive is the diffirence. Given the chance CDD will make us proud and sucsessful.

  • Love the optimism in this thread... gotta love spring

  • Some hard facts for comparison.

Petrino had a ruff couple years initially. Played more frosh and soph than any team in the country. Last second wins over crap teams at home, no less.

Anyway, the kids grew up and pigs finish 5th this yr with only losses to Bama and LSU. Its a process folks, and I truly believe we have rounded the corner.

PS If Larry wants to chime in, he could throw out the stats on AUB natty champ team-offensive front. They were stacked with seniors and redshirt seniors going 2 deep.

Go VOLS! And hope y'all enjoy Easter with fam and friends!
