Auburn's Staff is showing us what a 1st year staff

  • Ruben foster auburn kid with auburn tattoo..going to Alabama. Sounds like auburns staff is doing just fine.

    This thread is now at 100 posts which is about 100 more than it needs. This dude is not going to shut up. He is going to keep saying sh*t to get us riled up. Stop engaging in a discussion with him. I'm tired of this thread popping up to the top of the list all the time. Anything he says, just don't respond. Just let it go away before he turns this board in to what we all are coming here to escape.

    Before the AU coaching change, their class was easily in the top 10. Now they're looking at the low end of the top 15. That's a regression under the new staff, not an improvement. Meanwhile, Coach Jones and this staff (whom you seem to have written off as worthless because they're not "southern" enough) have elevated the UT class from the low 30s to a top 25 (possibly top 20, depending on final decisions from Bell and a few others). This is the problem with your approach - you take the current rankings and use them as your sole evidence, but you ignore anything and everything that calls your view into question. If Auburn's staff is so great, why is their class on February 4 not as good as their class on December 4? If Tennessee's staff is so bad, why is their class on February 4 noticeably better than it was on November 4? That's the reality of the situation, and that's something you cannot accept for whatever reason. That's not being "delusional" no matter what your warped definition of the word is...

How many of the AU staff are first year, how many are carry-overs and how many were there the year before last who had already been a part of the recruitment of the class they had started. Next, if you think Butch failed at his hiring then list who, realistically, you think he could have hired by position-coach that has a better reputation as a coach and recruiter than our current staff members.

    If you are going to post such a negatively slanted statement, which you have the right to do since you pay your $10(thought I'd point that out before you feel compelled to) put some facts behind it so it sounds valid instead of your typical baseless grenade.

    They have 1 carryover coach who has been at Auburn since 2009. Rest of the staff is new to Auburn this year. After what Arky pulled off tonight you could sub them in for Auburn in my OP and the point still stands.

    Once again I never said the staff was doing a good or bad job just that Jones would have been better off with more southern recruiters on staff and that isn't an unreasonable assumption but too many people on here are pathological about anything they perceive as not worshiping at the coach's feet

  • You skip over how many were gone for one year and came back so already had relationships with the kids. Also, do you not feel Butch & staff has done a great job of getting Southern High School SR in that Dooley's staff had not been able to interest or had not been interested in? How about it looking like they have improved the rating of the class? How many of the new commits are Southern boys or guys the previous staff was also recruiting whether from the South or not?

    Also, you didn't address who you would have hired by position coach who have a better reputation as a coach and recruiter with southern times that we realistically could have gotten on the staff.

    If we were going to hire ex Auburn coaches then I would have hired Mike Pelton as DL coach and hired an experienced SEC WR and OL coach not 1 with 1 year in the SEC,

    It isnt about if the current staff has improved our ranking it is about how much more they could have if Jones didnt decide to bring his Cincy staff with him. I will say it once again this staff has probably done as best as they could coming from where they come from but that isn't saying we couldn't have done better with more experienced SEC recruiters on staff.

    Auburn did hire über recruiter Rodney Gardner and Craig which was pretty smart. But the chemistry of the staff that Jones brought over from his previous stints has seemingly paid off as he keys in on the relationship aspect of this coaching regime. Without that, we aren't in the mix for Bell. Add proven SEC recruiters in Thigpen, Martinez, and Graham and this will pay dividends. Very Fulmeresque.....
