A source close to the situation told govos247 on Friday morning that Tennessee, barring any last-minute snags, is expected to hire a defensive coordinator.

Will he work with LB as well or just be Coordinator? Wonder if Thompson will move to LB coach with his Sunseri history coaching DL as well. Probably a stupid question since it would be odd that you would know that info as well since Dooley and them have not officially even made this announcement. But I wonder if Dooley would rather just hire a separate LB coach or DL coach along with DC or maybe hire a different position coach. Will be interesting to follow

Some fans might not like what I'm about to write, but these recent hires seem to indicate to me that barring a total disaster in 2012 that Derek Dooley will be around for two more years. I doubt if Pittman and Sunseri are going to come to Tennessee without some assurances that CDD isn't about to be pushed off the cliff.
I think everyone understands that another year like this and CDD won't be around in 2013, but with this rebuilt staff we certainly seem to be in better shape than we were when the season ended. Now if CDD can just get the Chargers guy things will really be looking up.

Recent events seem to say that Hart has confidence in Dooley. I hope he's right.
If nothing else, these hires should help bring this recruiting class home. Might even swing a couple of high profile guys.
