  • Big time power recruits that play old school SEC football are going to pick UA, LSU, UF, and even USCe over UT right now. Tennessee doesn't necessarily need a gimmick type coach but does need some new blood for recruits to get fired up about. My vote fwiw goes to Mr. "Man" Gundy.

  • You need to put together some winning seasons to get the recruits regardless of who you hire. Kids rarely blindly pick a school based on a new hire. Especially when they have the option of Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, Scar.

  • Gimmicks don't work in the SEC. You either hit them other team in the mouth or get hit in the mouth. The more physical team wins in this league, it's different then other leagues. We need a guy who runs the ball and plays good defense.

    All 4 of these teams have the same philosophy. There's a reason they are the top 4 teams in the country.

  • Gimmicks don't work in sec is what we always hear. Spurrier was a gimmick at Florida that won. Meyers was a gimmick at Florida and won. Malzone(sp) was a gimmick at auburn and won. Johnny football is a gimmick at T a&m and is winning. Gimmicks are always the trends of the future sure some fail some crash and burn after a few years but what a ride if it works.

  • Gimmicks can work just fine as previously stated. If you fall short with a few athletes at key positions on offense then a coach should and really needs to be creative. In this league you just have to have the defense to cover for you. As long as you have the D you can experiment with your O to try and throw up some points.
