I'm just not satisfied by any answer from any NC State fan when asked what factors will win them the game. At this point it seems like they think they'll win because they want to and because they have one all american in the backfield plus a fairly decent QB. I just don't buy it.

I'm hesitant to post the obvious, but we've got to prove we can run the ball, for countless reasons. The most immediate reason is so we can control this game and win it. +1, Wes - love this "know a foe" series!

I think you nailed it Ryan. All we really have now is the "hope" that UT will play as good as we want them to. If I'm an outsider looking in, I would have to pick NC State based on past performance. Unfortunately, I have drank the Kool-aid and will always look for any slant to giving the Vols the edge.
If Tennessee has a balanced attack AND takes care of the ball, then they will take care of business. Time to pound the rock, then pound the pack.

I am not going to lie this game actually worries me some. I think it will probably be one of the best games we play all year. I hope the Big Orange pull the WIN as i will be in the stands for the first time in years. That and I live an hour from NC State campus and would really love to drive thru playing Rocky Top next week.

I just really hope the good guys can get it done. I really think we should win this game. However, it would be very deflating to see a Vols loss on the first game no matter who the opponent is.
Can't wait until Friday Night! Go Vols!

I'm confident tennessee can win this game I beleieve were more talented team with a veteran offense line veteran and quarterback and I believe our defense will be better than most people thinks because of some of our leaders on that side. Now I dnt believe this is a sure win we have to show up and be ready for this game which to me it shouldn't matter what opponent we play we should be ready to play and take no team for granted and we have to be able to run the ball

Whoever comes out the strongest and with the best tempo wins. Do we come out like against CAL, maintaining it, winning going away? Or, do we fall flat like against Florida, never really being in the game? Until the Vols prove they can maintain the grind for 60 minutes, I don't believe there is a middle ground in the result.

Otherwise, UT has a pretty unproven group of tailbacks, a new No. 2 wide receiver from the junior-college ranks, an offensive line that underachieved last year, a new defensive scheme that could cause some problems either way, a suspect secondary and a kicking game that has been shaky in the past.
I'm not saying Tennessee isn't going to win — far from it, actually — but I think there are plenty of reasons on both sides for fans to say, "Seriously, this team is going to win."
