Bray to start against UK

  • I think we would be better served to let Worley have that game especially after last Saturday and with nothing to play for now

  • I look forward to the Worley era next year, but I think this is most likely Bray's last game at UT and no reason benching him for that. It is also good for the program for him to go as high in the draft as possible and to say good things about UT moving forward (unlike Foster and some others).

I fundamentally disagree with that. That's a loser attitude...from the fans or the players. Nothing left to play for? How about a win? That alone should be enough to want to field the best team possible on Saturday. And Tyler Bray is the best QB on the roster. There has been nothing to suggest that TB is leaving school after this year. So why would we start preparing for a situation that we don't even know is imminent? As long as Tyler Bray, or any eligible starter, is on the roster he should be starting on Saturday.

I agree with TCJ: by Not starting Bray, you are Pushing Him Out The Door. then, it is no longer a matter of whether Bray leaves. He would definitely leave (I know I would).

And there's no reason to push Tyler Bray out the door. All he has done is throw for 3300 yds and 30 TDs. I'll take a guy with those numbers any day. He has taken a lot of criticism this season (some deserved, a lot more not). He had 1 bad game; Vandy. Other than that it's hard to find fault with a guy who's leading a 36.1pt/game offense. It's not his offense the defense allows 37.4. He has some maturity issues, that can be fixed. He also has talent, and you can't teach that.

  • You guys do know they benched him Saturday night for a reason, right? He has already checked out and got his coach fired it is time to go to Worley and see what happens.

To your point, I might be the one person who agreed with the benching. He checks out of games, and for those saying he would have snapped into it, please watch the UK game last year and see what a checked out Bray looks like. That said,
    - Why end his career at UT on a bad note if he practices hard this week?
    - Who is to say he wouldn't come back to play for the right coach? I think Gruden could get more out of him than the previous staff. Most other coaches too IMO.
    - Great point by JCJ, play to win the game and play for the seniors.

I am sorry, but - respectfully - Tyler Bray did not get Dooley fired. The horrific defense; Dooley's lack of game management skills/experience; and his hiring of CSS/change in defensive scheme ultimately got him fired. While Dooley was a good organizer and above avg recruiter, he was not a good in-game coach. He blew the DC hire (much like Fulmer blew his OC/"Clawfense" hire. The 2012 offense is one of the best in the country. If the D this year had even been "awful" - instead of pathetic/nearly non-existent - UT probably has 8 wins (with a couple of decent wins mixed in). Those are the things that got Dooley fired.

Hate to be the one to say it but if you are playing to win the game then you start Worley not Bray.

  • My personal perspective isn't that Bray isn't talented, it's that he's a distraction. The kid has all kinds of physical talent, more than maybe any qb in our history. Conversely, he can be a distraction and destructive on the field. I don't hate him but I'm disappointed in him, he could be so much better than he is. He could be smarter, more disciplined and a team leader, all he'd have to do really is work on those things. He could actually choose to be that kind of QB, but he hasn't. If Casey Clausen had the physical talent of Bray or Bray had the leadership and maturity of Clausen, we wouldn't talk about Peyton Manning.
