Bring back the face of Tennessee

  • We all want Gruden,Jimbo,Strong,Stoops and then everyone else. Where spoiled on being a winning CFB team.What im about to say you may not like. I ask you not to downvote me for an opinion that is just due.Bring back what made us great,the guy thats record is 152-52, that has won titles in college football,that has recruited top 5 classes, that was and always will be a diehard orange bleedin mad man.You all know who im talkin about.Not many people can say that your a bigger fan them him.He doesnt just say screw us like so many do.Think about this of all this big names has a better record?Hey some might but if we played Grambling state and D2 teams every other game then yea we wouldnt be here.let think real hard about this one vols fans.If you want someone proven on coaching,a winning record and a title owner?Then look no further then Phillip Fulmer.
    Note:Also think of it this way we if we cant get Gruden then it looks like Golden.No way we need let this happen!

  • I agree with Tom Cat but OP do me 1 favor please don't refer to anyone else other than the Great General Robert Reese Neyland as the face of Tennessee football. (unless its Smokey lol) Phil was a great coach but the General was and will always be the greatest football coach that ever walked the sideline at UT. But you get a +1 from me just for your honesty!

  • Bobby Bowden won a lot of games too. You don't see any FSU fans trying to bring him back, and I doubt they would even if Jimbo's boys were 4-7.

  • Why do people think Phil is the only guy capable of winning here? He had a great run here, so did Majors, so did Dickey, so did Neyland, but it's over and time to move on. We will get a good coach with the next hire, Patience Vol fans, Patience.

    Bottom line...no chance this happens. TN is about to finish up not paying him to coach.

  • Phil started this its amazing how fast people forget that. He is part of the reason we are here. What makes u think bringing him back would cure anything

    That's kinda like getting remarried to an ex-wife, because she was a sweetie every now and then.

  • Every positive UT Football memory of my lifetime involves Phillip Fulmer. I have nothing but respect for the man.

    I do not want him coaching here again. Not because he can't coach, but because even if it worked it's a short term fix that is not progress for the program.

    We need to move forward and find somebody who will win at UT for a number of years and move the program forward, not somebody who would be a step backwards and is going to retire in 3 or 4 years.

    If we could go back and give him another year that's one thing. Rehiring him at this point is something else.

  • The glory days of Tennessee football go back to Gen. Neyland. I personally go back to Coach Dickey, with fond memories of coaches Battle and Majors.

    Fulmer had a good run and a National Championship, but he is far from being the face of Tennessee football. That would still be the man whose likeness now sits in the west concourse.
