Bruce Pearl

He is on ESPN talking about college basketball during half time of the Arizona vs. Washington game, and he is wearing that beautiful orange colored tie he used to wear while coaching our vols! I love CCM but I miss my boy Bruce and the excitement he brought in making Tennessee relevant in basketball. I will never forget the #1 Memphis vs #2 Tennessee game, which is the greatest game I have ever gone to in all sports. Just thought I would ask you guys about your favorite moments during the Bruce Pearl Era?

That game was my favorite memory for sure: Watched it on the strip at Half Barrel, singing Rocky Top the whole time! Place was PACKED!! We then went to McCleod's where rumor was spreading of the team getting back in town around 2:30-3. We went over to TBA where a couple of hundred fans were to welcome the team back. Will never forget BP climbing on top of car yelling, "We're number one!!!" Duke Crews had his arm around me as all of us were singing, "I said it's great, to be, a Tennessee Vol!!!" Damn.... Awesome times!!

Kansas game was the best.... But the JP Prince block on Evan Turner?? at the end of the sweet sixteen game against Ohio State was EPIC!

Beating Ohio St in the Sweet 16 was one of my best memories from college. Making that weekend road trip to St. Louis was an amazing experience

I was in St. Louis as well and had my tickets for the Final Four. That was one of the longest rides back to Nashville I have ever had. We just couldn't believe we were that close to the Final 4 and let it slip away. If I remember correctly, Chism missed a bunny very late and Hopson missed a crucial free throw at the end before MSU hit the game winner.

I was in St Louis, too. Beating Ohio State was INCREDIBLE with the missed last second shot by Evan Turner. Then we had to drive 8 hours back to Knoxville after losing to Izzo. Beating Ohio State was definitely my favorite game because I felt it was revenge for when we couldn't score against them in the NCAA Tournament a few years before, and it was the first time I traveled for a Vols game

I respect Coach Martin to the nth degree. As honorable as they come. But I miss the excitement and passion (and scoring - lol!) that came with Coach Pearl and his teams. He is a marketing genius and knew how to turn on his personality when he needed to (he was way more aloof without cameras around). Those black curtains at Thompson Bowling were a permanent fixture until his arrival.

I miss everything about Bruce. I will tell you a cool Jason Shay Story. I coached HS Basketball at the time in Chattanooga and took my assistant coach to a game against Eastern Kentucky. We stuck around after the radio show and talked to Pearl briefly but talked to Shay for a while. We told him we really liked the stuff they ran against a zone that night and he asked if we wanted a tape of the game so we could see more of what they ran. We gave an address but the tape never game. My assistant was back for a game a month later and said hello to Shay after the game and didn't mention anything about the tape. Shay stopped the conversation, apologized, and said he would be right back. Couple of minutes later he walks out with the tape. Very cool. Would have never thought he would have remembered something like that but he did. I miss all of that. It is simply a shame that Bruce lied and covered up a secondary violation at best.

I was listening to him evaluate players and teams at the halftime show during Mich St game last night. And gosh what a wonderful job he does. So intelligent and thorough in his evals.
I personally would love to have him back after he does his time. But I think its just a pipe dream.

I'd love for Pearl to come back also. I think Conzo is a super guy and I think this team will be pretty good next season, but man I miss the excitement and swagger we had with Pearl.
