Butch Jones Recruiting

  • With Jones hired, it's not key for him to bring in the type of players he needs for his style of football. With his offense, it's a dual-threat QB. I think the first call and main focus needs to be recently-decommitted QB Asaintii Woulard. The kid won the Elite 11 camp. He's one heckuva player and only going to get better as he hasn't been a QB that long.

  • Defense. Defense. Defense.

We have a QB. We need DB's and LB's, that's wher his focus should be. He should attend Vonn Bell's HS game tonight

And hiring Tee would do wonders for this fan base. Will show CBJ is looking for "bleed orange" types that can coach and recruit.

Please God someone make a push-pin posting letting everyone know the Spread Offense is not a option running QB offense.

-Oklahoma State ran the spread last year with an NFL QB Branden Weeden...he ran about zero times.
-Cincy QB's ran the ball on average about 6-7 times a game last year, but that was partly due to the personnel they had
-When Kelly had Pike at Cincy running the same offense, Tony Pike had 32 carries for 6 yards for the entire season. He was not a runner.

Spread does not = Running QB. It may, but doesn't have to. Spread means spread the field, make the defense defend the entire field....the lineman line up further apart from each other, there may be a read option component to it (pass or hand off), but it isn't a Ga Tech option offense.

  • Woulard is a superior candidate to Ferguson. That said, they were both at the Elite 11 camp and I don't know why CBJ couldn't try to bring them both in and let them compete.

I agree. I would love to get Woulard. However, I've said for a while now that I believe Peterman will be our QB next year over Worley. Now that Jones is our coach, I would bet a lot of money on that. Jones recruited Peterman to Cincy and Wes and Ryan have said numerous times that Peterman has some great wheels and can spin it every bit as good as Bray. Woulard would be great for our future though. We do already have Ferguson committed though and he's no slouch. Both were intvited to the Elite 11 finals. I know Woulard won it but Ferguson broke his thumb on Day 1. Not suggesting he would have won but I think we'll be in great shape with either.

I wouldn't say superior to Ferguson simply because Ferguson has been a QB a lot longer than Woulard has (1 year). Experience goes along way. But I agree 100% that we should try and bring in both, why not? Unless we need the roster spot for someone else.

No, it's not. But I think his style of play would lend to a running QB and that's what he's used in the past. Maybe not a blazing runner, but definitely not a statue in the pocket

Exactly. Snow ball's chance in hell Bray stays. He would fall under the "statue" category.
