I believe someone already is drumming up that effort. In fact, lots of fans are — even others on here.

I just apologized to Scott Van Freaking Pelt for our fan base and got a reply. Said I was sorry twice. It is so embarrassing.

Ok good. I sure as hell hope he doesn't decide not to come here because of this. Media would be all over it, and I firmly believe it would set us back by up to a decade.

Yep. This is sad that the majority of Vol fans have to go and apologize for the ignorance of a few.

did the same and retweeted his tweet about how he would win at Next stop even if it was Knoxville.
Some of these necks are just way out there and some of those had to be bear cat fans as well.

If we get Butch we can move forward and Hart can have a PR Public Apology and damnation for the few ignorant fans. If Butch bails then we might as well have self imposed the "SMU death penalty."

He wouldn't turn down TN bc of some ignorant people tweeting at him that he doesn't even read. This happens way more than you think, after a game where a coach makes a questionable call watch his Twitter line it looks the same or worse. Still sad that people would do that though.

I appologized and sent a positive tweet. I'm beyond ashamed. I'm ready to call it quits on this fan base. I love UT and this hurts so much to watch. But this with the fans is just too damn much.

It may happen all the time, but because we're Tennessee the media is jumping all over it. A few angry tweets is embarrassing but expected. People like Scott van Pelt doing a post on it isn't. It amplifies the issue ten fold.

You can't blame the AD for the actions of a group of unhinged UT "fans" who choose to act like fools online. This type of garbage makes the entire fanbase look like idiots, and you can't pin that on Hart or anyone at the University.

I agree with what Tntoak said. Could you please explain to me how the AD is in any way, shape, or form responsible for the tweets of idiotic fans?
