Butch Jones named CBSSports.com Big East Coach of the Year....

  • Butch Jones beat out Strong, yes, Charlie Strong for the Award....I really like this hire if we do indeed hire Butch Jones. Players Coach, see link....

Butch Jones is CBSSports.com's Big East Coach of the Year - CBSSports.com

Cincinnati coach Butch Jones narrowly defeats three others to win CBSSports.com's Big East Coach of the Year. With 65 first or second-year players on the roster, the Bearcats still earned a share of the conference title with Rutgers, Louisville and Syracuse.

Do you think some of the Negative Nancys are suddenly rethinking their negativity?

    Good find, Bristol!

I would think so. I am ready to support who ever we get. I'm just ready for all this to be over.

The more I read and think about this guy, I'm not sure why he wasn't at the top of the list to begin with?

Probably because he lacked "name" recognition and Cincinnati lost to Tennessee last season when Dooley had the best team of his tenure. Once Hunter went down, and then Bray, things were never the same...

The Tennessee team that beat Cincy would have won a lot of SEC games. Sadly, it began fallling apart when Hunter went down early in the Florida game.

Our fans have such short memories.

Unfortunately, that game was the one highlight of Dooley's tenure.

I hope they are but facts don't seem to matter to some of these folks. They would rather have a "name." Brian Kelly wasn't Brian Kelly until he got to ND. He came from Cincy to ND. Seemed to be good enough for them and it has seemed to work out as well.

So true. That one game kept me going until the next season because I wanted to see that offense again. Then came Da'Rick, then the crappy defense and ......

    Hart attack!

Phil Fulmer wasn't a name either until he got a chance to coach the Vols. All some coaches need is a chance.

Yes I am a newbie here, but I will take credit for informing everyone of the Big East coach of the year over Strong on a previous threadmoon. That being said, if it is all legit, and he is our next coach.....in a year from now we can run our mouths and complain about what we don't like about him. Or, all the naysayers may have egg on their faces, and we all brag on him and his staff. Either way. no matter who they hired would be a risk. There was no absolute that said Saban or Miles would be successful in the SEC. They were given a chance and ran with it. Alot can be said for guys having something to prove! They usually work their tails off, and give everything they have to be the best. It could be the same with this hire! Give Jonesy a chance!
