C Patterson first player taken in draft

  • Just saw Chas Davis name Patterson as his surprise 1st player taken overall.. His counterpart on the NFL network picked Sharif Floyd of the Gators. I think Floyd is more likely.

  • It could be Patterson. Heck the chiefs have plenty of options since they went and got a QB

Wide outs in todays NFL are so valuable, and at the beginning of this process i thought CP could find his way up the draft board. I still question some of his technique, but they compared his physical numbers to Julio the other day and he had the same numbers. Plus, there are no really strong candidates for number one, so it makes for an interesting discussion. I just think back to when Andre Johnson and Charlie went 2 and 3, and think if C.R. could go that high then C.P. could too.

  • CP is a very valuable prospect. I have yet to see a 6'2" 215lb pound wr start and stop explosiveness , crazy vision and the ability to make 4 or 5 people miss in the space of a phone booth like CP. he can score from multiple positions at anytime. You don't get this type of athlete very often.

I don't think the WR position is that valuable. In the AFC, the Ravens, Broncos, and Colts all lacked proven strong WR corps coming into the year and all did well. The Pats have Welker, but does anyone expect their numbers to go down much when he leaves?

Top shelf WR are very valuable. If you do not think so just look at the contract Mike Wallace is getting ready to sign. In era where the spread is becoming more and more prominent, having that true number one is becoming huge.

Plus your case it hurt by the fact the Colts had Reggie Wayne. Ravens had Boldin. and Broncos had Decker and Thomas who is one of the better wide outs in the league.

Although they may not be household names to the common fan, the Ravens receivers (Boldin & Smith) are definitely talented. Ask Champ Bailey if Smith is any good and see what he says.

  • I see CP as a top 15 pick and maybe he could slide into the top 10. But question in general for anyone really, what was made or has come from the reports that he didnt interview very well? I thought it would hurt his draft stock considerably but it doesn't seem that way from what I read. Another thing, I read where some people where suggesting the patriots as a landing spot for CP. I think that could be an explosive offense but also wonder if he could pick up and learn that highly intricate and complex offense New Englad has. My caution to that is based on the last couple of WR's, who are recognizable names, never seemed to produce the numbers that you would think they should, especially having Brady at QB.

As it pertains to Patriots, they only have five picks so I cannot see that happening at all. They very rarely trade up, usually trade down for more picks.
