I see CP as a top 15 pick and maybe he could slide into the top 10. But question in general for anyone really, what was made or has come from the reports that he didnt interview very well? I thought it would hurt his draft stock considerably but it doesn't seem that way from what I read. Another thing, I read where some people where suggesting the patriots as a landing spot for CP. I think that could be an explosive offense but also wonder if he could pick up and learn that highly intricate and complex offense New Englad has. My caution to that is based on the last couple of WR's, who are recognizable names, never seemed to produce the numbers that you would think they should, especially having Brady at QB.

I don't think poor interviews will hurt that much if at all. He is not exactly a Mensa member so he was never going to do well when they put him on the board. He is the best athlete I have seen but he is incredibly raw. He admited to not having a complete grasp of our offense and his route running is bad. So there are plenty of places he won't go, Pats and Broncos to name a few. He will still be in high demand but will take sometime to be an every down WR. But that is the case with almost all WR entering the league.

I still think the Vikings are waiting for Randy Moss to run the correct route. I know that it is an important part of being a receiver but there are a handful of guys in the NFL who are just simply good enough to go out there and make plays not matter what: Megatron, Green, Fitz, and Jones come to mind right away.

That is how Patterson will be, in my opinion. He may never be the best route runner, but with everything else he offers he is going to be special. No way this guy last past pick 12

Top shelf WR are very valuable. If you do not think so just look at the contract Mike Wallace is getting ready to sign. In era where the spread is becoming more and more prominent, having that true number one is becoming huge.

Plus your case it hurt by the fact the Colts had Reggie Wayne. Ravens had Boldin. and Broncos had Decker and Thomas who is one of the better wide outs in the league.

Wayne and Boldin were both considered over the hill coming into this year, Smith still is a speedster who is slowly rounding out his came, and Decker and Thomas sure looked a whole lot better playing with Payton than they did with Tebow/Orton.

If we are including those guys as top shelf, every above average WR in the league is a top shelf guy.

The point isn't that those guys are bad players, but rather replacing those gusy with league average receivers would not decimate those teams.

    Really?

Thomas is considered by many to be one of the better young receivers in the league. Wayne was wanted by a lot of people and sure made Luck's job a lot easier. And during the super bowl, all they talked about was the quality of receiver that Boldin was. You take boldin and wayne away from those offenses last year and those teams do not have nearly as much success.

Shoot, Decker made Tebow look like a solid QB in some games. A lot of teams would love to have Boldin, Wayne, and Thomas. Now are we talking about top five? By no means. But it is imperative to have that number one go to guy in the league, you pay top dollar for that. To assume that you could replace any of those guys with league average receivers and be ok is just a case of undervaluing what they give to their teams.

A top flight WR corps is the main reason the Falcons got within shouting distance of the Super Bowl, IMO.

Oh yeah, Tony G, Julio, and White have given Ryan the ammo needed to excel.

I don't think the Seahawks, Redskins, Vikings (harvin was hurt) or 49ers have a top flight guy.

I think Bolden had 2 TD catches during the regular season, so it's tough to argue he's a stud before he dominated the playoffs. Wayne was wanted on the cheap but nobody was willing to break the bank for him.

The point isn't that good WRs don't help a team. But it is far less important than QB, oline, and arguably RB. It's not like basketball where having LBJ at that position wins you games, it's why Megatron is breaking records on a team that can't win.

  • You just never know what he is going tondo when he touches the ball.

Most of those teams had a very good running game complimented with good defense... Very good running backs are just not the norm anymore....
