CP on Mel's Big Board

  • Not sure if this was posted already (I didn't see it) but mel kiper put CP on his big board for the first time this season and he has him at #12. Justin Hunter isn't on his but is on Todd McShay's at #26. Dallas Thomas is on McShay's at #29

2013 NFL draft - Anthony Barr of UCLA among new Big Board additions - ESPN

Tennessee wideout Cordarrelle Patterson has cracked the Big Board for the first time. So too has UCLA pass-rusher Anthony Barr, who evokes memories of Aldon Smith at Missouri.

  • If CP learns to run routes and can learn a playbook, he has all-pro talent. He may struggle with the football IQ part though. I'll root for him like all former Vols and I wish him the best.

  • yea the last little blurb on CP that kiper wrote was "has a ceiling of a very good #1"

  • CP needs to stay around and learn how to play WR. Otherwise he will be a kick returner only. He caused lots of problems on the field this year running wrong/bad routes.

Don't see any way. He would have had trouble staying academically eligible even if he had gone to class.

Is it pretty well known that he'd be ineligible to play in a bowl game and probably not even next year? or is it all just conjecture?

It's just conjecture. But it stands to reason because he struggled mightily to get out of a JUCO where Homer Simpson would have been an academic star. And there were several reports (ok, rumors) during the season that CP didn't go to class much. I think his plan all along was to be a one and done.

I'd love it if I were wrong. He is such a weapon, a threat to score from anywhere.

NFL guys can teach him everything he needs to know, route running never stopped anyone from drafting them GT WR

  • Can we chill with speculating that CP is an idiot and can't stay eligible?

McCullers went Juco because he wasn't focused at all in HS, went to school and matured, and now is doing pretty well. Some people mature / focus on academics later than others.

I don't know if CP has a 4.0 or a 1.0, but assuming the latter is pretty messed up IMO.

It's not much speculation I don't think...pretty well known by students
