  • Its great news and expected but IMO the early visit worries me....

    1. There are 3 more weekends after that for OVs....NSD is later than ever this year. Glad Vonn Bell is coming Jan 26th with only one more weekend for an OV and most players will make up their minds around that time this year IMO

    2. UT home bball games are the 19th and 26th and those need to be our biggest 2 OV weekends as they do make an impact on recruits seeing a gameday atmosphere and passion of our fans etc

    3. You always want a later OV for elite recruits.....JMO the 11th is just too early.

    4. We already used our inhome by Jones too with Lawson IIRC. We needed him here the 26th for an OV and late impact to see all of UT and what we can offer + see Jones face to face to close him

    Totally agree w/ this. NSD is on the 6th, that's 3 1/2 weeks from OV to NSD, way to long IMO.

    You make very valid points but I am sure that there are other circumstance that influenced the selection of the Jan. 11th OV date. I am just happy that we have a shot at landing the kid.

    You cant take the mentality of "just glad he is visiting and we should take anytime he can do it." Our elite competition pushes for OVs on key dates and we should too. Its a key part of recruiting and one that has lost us players in the past

    One of the reason Lane Kiffin is one of the best recruiters in the country is because of his policy on OV...

    Current commits can visit whoever they want, as long as USC get's the last visit. Kids have short memory's, and who wouldn't have a blast in LA in the end of January.

    Bama and AU are known for the last OV for key recruits that are still deciding. Bama can now host earlier bc of who they are but last year we lost a DT to Bama with an OV after us and the prior year we lost one to AU the same way etc etc

  • to me, I would not be worried about the date compared to NSD... but moreso of the date compared to other OVs. For instance, if this is the last OV he is taking, it is perfect... if he is taking 2 more OVs after, we may have an issue.
