I think as a coach or at least as a good one you always have to want to take the challenge against the best at least once in your career. Whether or not that's this year or not buy I would think at some point he would want that

I wouldn't put much stock in that ranking. Recruiting in the Big East will never be great. Just because Dooley has a higher ranked class doesn't mean that he is an excellent recruiter or a better one than Strong would be. Just being in the SEC brings recruiting up to a new level. Plus the facilities, fans, tradition and name brand of Tennessee attracts a lot of recruits. These are huge advantages of recruiting from Tennessee versus Louisville that have nothing to do with a coach's recruiting ability. No way to know for sure, but I would guess Strong could do as well if not better than Dooley at UT in recruiting.

I'll take Strong as HC and keep Chaney at OC to help hold our offensive recruiting together (would be his 3rd HC).

Well Strong has put himself in the position to be the IT coach this year. He's going to be sought after like Meyer and Kelly. I know everyone fell in love with the idea of Gruden. But I think Strong would be a solid choice. Maybe even better. He's been a DC in the SEC for years. A problem I could foresee is Arkansas making a run for him and he is from Arkansas.

A serious question, but would anyone see any problems with a black head coach coming to Tennessee with a beautiful wife who is white? I ask this question because Strong brought it up a few years ago in an article that he felt he had been hindered in head coaching offers because of his interracial relationship.

I'd have no problems and didn't even give a crap until I read that article. It's 2012. I think our fanbase is probably more interested in winning right now rather than who is married to who.

I know why you're asking the question. Strong himself has brought it up a few times. All I can say is I would hope that race has nothing to do with it. +1 for bringing up a tough question though.

short yardage is a problem i think our off has been really good this year certinly not the reason for the losses but chaney does need to improve the short yardage runs...... needs to go back to the power I Its like novocain just give it time and it always works. but graham and pittman is doing a fine job so maybe they get it fixed......

I don't know if that is necessarily true Atomic. Brian Kelly went to Notre Dame known as a high-scoring coach. However, he has adjusted to his roster and now has one of the top defenses in the country (with much credit to Bob Diaco, of course.) I do think an "offensive-minded" coach can still get the job, but he is going to have to be able to make the right assistant hires and the ability to adjust with his team strengths just as Brian Kelly has.
