Look it's one thing to to be on stage and say Go Gators when you're in Gainesville, but he went all out.

He is not a Tennessee fan in my book and he does NOT represent a true Tennessee fan.

Dolly Parton would have been much more fitting.

I don't know how many times on twitter the other day I saw people BEGGING for it to NOT be Chesney....and I was one of them. I could think over dozens of other people that would be better and bigger.

The guys an entertainer. He plays to his fans. I'm okay with it. Let us not forget he produced "The Color Orange" which brought great pub to the school.

This. I just don't get all the sheer hatred. He was on stage with Tebow at the UF campus. He was there to entertain them. I get it if people don't love his music, but the guy does do a lot to promote UT. I saw him in Kansas City the last two summers, both times I got to stand and cheer when he showed images of General Neyland, Condredge Hollaway, and Payton as well as players running through the T. Was awesome to watch it in Tiger country. The documentary he did has been one of the few bright publicity spots for us in the last 5 years.

I think his attitude outside of his "publicity" events is why many people don't like hi do much. When I worked in the music industry for a few years in Nashville, I heard a lot of things he had done to warrant the hate towards him. One story is from a friend of mine who runs a very successful pool business & builds the majority of celeb's pool around Nashville. Both of them were great friends during Chesney's early years in Nashville & worked together at DHL I believe. Once Kenny hit it big, he became real arrogant & only chose to associate himself with "people on hs level".

That said, I can understand how fame will lead to leeches & other people trying to ride your coat tails becoming an every day problem, but that does not excuse the arrogant behavior towards many of the people who were friends with you before "making it". Happens a lot though...
