Coach Dooley

  • If you like coach Dooley or not wouldn't it be nice if everyone would just get behind him and this team for once. Since the day he was hired theres been haters and dissapointed fans that he wasn't a high profile coach from a high profile program. I know every UT fan me included want's to win, but I for one am just now starting to understand just how bad the program had gotten. Everybody thinks Alabama's turnaround was due to Saban and Saban alone he's a great coach don't get me wrong but Mike Shula had them on the verge with good players when was let go, and if you remember it took them 5 or 6 years to turn things around. Just venting a little tired of all the negetivity and unrealistic expectations, I still remember the mid 70's and early 80's Uggh.

I hope he is too, I don't know if he's the right man or not but I do know he had alot of work to do when he took the job. In my opinion he's done fine so far the next 2 years will answer all of our questions. Go vols!

  • I am very disappointed about all the negativity that has surrounded my VOLS for the last decade. Coach Dooley, if given the chance, will get the Vols back on top. We are going to be much improved this year. I expect 8 wins this year. If for some reason we win only 7, I will still support our coach. 2013 will be our SEC East Championship season if we get behind our coach and let him develop his players for a full 4 seasons. If we dismiss Dooley prior to the ending of 2013, we should be ashamed. I love my Vols and I know that we are finally on the cusp of being the Tennessee program that we all expect, don't let uneducated pretend fans determine that our coach needs to leave. Go Big Orange!

I wish I had your optimism. The fact is that Dooley sometimes looks lost out there. I just don't see confidence that some of the great coaches have. All that plus losing to UK has me worried.

  • Define negativity, because I just haven't seen it from most on this Board. I personally hope Dooley wins 9 games or more, which is doable with this team and schedule and I believe they will succeed. I expect atleast 4-4 in SEC. With that he comes back and I believe he gets atleast 4 wins in SEC play, probably more.

The SEC schedule doesn't get any easier in 2013 and you can't count on Bray, Rogers, or Hunter to run through the T in 2013.

I think the LSU and North Carolina games would shake almost anybody's confidence. That snakebit feeling is hard to shake...

Never seen that from him. Seen passion and frustration but not being lost or lacking confidence.

Must not read several posters on here then because it's there, not gonna call anybody out and for the most part your right. But if you haven't seen any posts saying he's lost or must win so many games or he's in over his head or he has never beaten anybody, then I don't know what your reading. Not trying to start anything hear just wishing support for our team and coach. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and entitled to post it. We are all Tennessee fans right?

I stay away from certain threads so that might explain it.

  • I agree with most VOL Fans, Dooley began his major D1 coaching career with the VOLS at a very in opportune time. As stated the program was in a much larger mess than most believed. Many players abandended the ship, were dismissed, etc leaving a skelleton upper classmen on scholarship with first year freshmen having to fill the gaps. Although recruiting has been fair in the nations top 20 classes over the past 3 years and better atheletes and more of them will be fielded this coming season, one must realize these classes were in the middle of the SEC pack and a team does not gain a lot of ground when half the conference continues to get better players then the VOLS. Of course, no one knows how the classes will turn out until two/three years out but for the first time in the Dooley era it appears a better team with quality dept can be fielded at most positions. With the 2012 schedule 8 wins is reasonable. The future depends on recruiting, recruiting recruiting. IMO the coaching staff is capable. The UT football image of the past few years has to be overcome and again compete for the top players. This will take some patience, IMO.

  • I agree I would like to see him coach for a long time as well because he.represents the Vols with class. That being said ,with the Vols as well it should be wins are what counts and if the Vols don't get at least 7 , I am afraid he won't make it to 2013 .

  • I agree that recruiting top players is a must but sometimes these top players have the skill to be great but lack the will to be the best. Lane's 2009 class is a perfect example. I believe Dooley has recruited the type of players it takes to build a program, these kids are loyal, have great athletic ability, there coachable, will work to get better and so far we don't have to worry about the off the field issues. Dooley gave Deon Bonner a second chance at D1 football and I believe it will pay off, I know I certainly appreciated and respected the people who gave me that second chance. What I'm saying is I would take the AJ Johnson's and Curt Maggett's over the Bryce Browns, Janzen Jacksons and Nukeese Richardsons any day of the week. GBO and good luck coach. Let's have a great spring practice.

We r soon to forget how badly da rick rogers affected our team at the end of the year that is a Dooley recruit that cost us a game because Dooley did not have the balls to lead the team

  • We need to give CDD a 2 yr. extension with all the new assistants. Other schools are hammering us over "Dooley won't be there". Lets try some stability for a change---think Virginia Tech! I feel if we do this, the fan base will pull together and we will get more 4 and 5 star players to sign.

    volmd

  • I'm a 100% Dooley fan and agree with the majority about recruiting being the #1 priority but i can see on the recruiting sites that several teams finished in the top 15 the past several years that didn't have top recruiting classes. That being said I think if we can keep coaches longer than 2 years they can instill their philosophy's and schemes to the players for better productions. Our coaches can coach just need to be here long enough to teach.
