Hart is liable to mess around and loose a solid bet like Charlie Strong. He is a grreat recruit and its not our offense that bit us this year. We need some 5 star recruits to compete w Bama et all. Who was the last 5 star? Berry? Bama likely has 2 5 stars each year which gives them a stock of 8 or so always on the field.

Using the same argument isn't Gundy an Oklahoma State lifer? Didn't he play and coach there? I feel all we're to do is get Gundy a T Boone Pickens type raise. If we think Texas is in play won't Gundy wait on that job? Won't there be a dance with Gary Patterson? aren't we in danger of waiting around again to be turned down again and have to settle like we did for Dooley in Kiffin? That's why I say our play should be to offer Butch Davis. We know he will take the job. We can't be caught looking at people who will turn us down again and become a laughing stock again.

Much better than Gundy. Why would you consider Gundy who had a 7-5 record in the Big 12 which is not comparable to the SEC. We could have kept Dooley and been as well off as with Gundy

Please no Butch Jones. even Al Golden would be a better hire then him. He should be way down the list IMO. Also just my prediction but I think if Mack Brown were to step down or a move be made by Texas, I think Texas would make Nick Saban an offer he may very well not be able to refuse. That's just a though I have had the last couple of weeks. They might not get him but they would try hard IMO.

I really think he would take the Texas job. He might even take the Tennessee job for the right money, but Hart isn't going to knife his alma mater like that. Saban is a builder. I think the Texas job would excite him if it were to come open.

Agree with you on Fisher. Tennessee does NOT need another coach who's resume includes a history of bad losses to Florida.
I do like Gundy, although I don't like our chances of winning a bidding war against T. Boone Pickens. The more time goes by, the more I'm convinced we're going to end up with Charlie Strong, who generates zero excitement with me.
And a final word on Gruden: does anybody else out there question why Hart never bothered to contact this guy until three days ago? While I'm fairly sure Haslam met with him in early November, why is Hart just now getting around to contacting the guy? Did he have something more important to do, like rake leaves at his house? I'm starting to wonder if we didn't do enough house cleaning two weeks ago.

Fisher has beat Florida 2 times in the last 3 games!

I'd say that Dooley managing to screw up the end of the season was a blessing for UT. Dooley would've gone 6-6 at best next year. A real coach could keep the draft-eligible juniors and put up a good season next year.
