Wouldn't he rate right up there or even higher in some regards as Gruden and Mora Jr. regarding NFL experience and success? Not only is Jeff Fisher getting paid more in the NFL, but I just don't see him being interested in the college game. I think if he were, he would have done so after he was released by the Titans.
Would LOVE to get O'Brien seeing all the amazing things he's done at Penn State, but yeah... that buyout is pretty steep.

Just kicking arnd this "dream" sceanrio w/some guys @ work (and by the way, this coach search thing is gonna get me fired!). So here how it goes...
Peyton: Hey coach (Dungy)...how things going?
Dungy: Peyton, life is great, how things in Denver?
Peyton: So far so good. Coach, gotta proposition for ya...been thinking I probably have 3-4yrs of shelf-life left in my arm/legs/neck and have been giving more thought to life after the NFL.
Dungy: Yea, so what's ya thinking Peyton?
Peyton: Well, hear me out on this coach...thinking more and more about coaching @ the collegiate level and you know where my heart is!
Dungy: Peyton, we all know you bleed ORANGE! So ya thinking about... getting back to K'ville are ya?
Peyton: Definitely coach, definitely, BUT I need some help!
Dungy: Let me guess...I'm involved in the "help"?
Peyton: For sure coach. I know you gotta be getting bored in that broadcast booth/studio? C'mon on man...I know you've got that itch just a little bit...right?
Dungy: OK Peyton, cut to the chase...
Peyton: Well coach, things have gotten a bit rough for my beloved VOLs & I can think of no one better (even Gruden!) than YOU, to come in and start the process of restoring Tennessee to it's rightful place...competing for SEC and nat'l championships! You love wking w/young men, helping develop them as Vols-for Life and, for some, prospective NFL players. Knoxville is a great town, the campus & college environment is exciting & the $$$ for this gig ain't half bad. 5yrs coach... 5yrs. I come in for the last 2yrs or so & work w/you as OC and then hand the reigns over to me.
That's the abbreviated version coach...alot of blanks to fill in, but I'm confident we can sort through the details.
Dungy: Well Peyton, interesting, very interesting. I've have to admit it would be very intriguing to coach @ the collegiate level & especially getting some time to work w/you. Tell ya what, call Dave Hart, Haslam & the boys & line-up a meet. Think you may have something here Peyton!
After all that, my friends slap me & tell me to wake-up from my dream! Talk about a rude awakening!!

Nice roundup Kevin.
Jones' team did not impress me last year when we beat their brains out and his team did not impress me this year.
I am still waiting for Charlie Strong to coach a team filled with players only he recruited. That makes me nervous.
Which brings me to Fedora and Golden. I think one of these two guys is "our" guy. Take your pick ... maybe a slight edge to Golden. Go get him Mr. Hart.

From a well meaning UNC fan. Why on earth would Fedora want to leave Carolina for UT? He can recruit the same calibre (if not better) talent in Chapel Hill. Has a more favorable schedule. Has better academics to sell. Will make equal money. He also has the chance to become the face of a program that could be a powerhouse for years. UNC is a sleeping giant, but we've never had a coach stick around to take us there. Most of that's our fault b/c we've never wanted to pay up... But we've finally got an AD who'll do the dirty work. Just a thought. I liked Dooley, was sad to see him go.

These analysts opinions mean nothing. What counts is if the coach we target is willing to come to Tennessee over Arkansas. Would any of these candidates choose Arkansas over Tennessee? I don't think so.

This search is stretching out too long without some kind of targeted candidates leaking info or talking about there interest. To me it seems the university already has there man and are just sugar coating the search. Im not gonna say his name but all signs and information to this point tell the story. Not much talking going on and no one can really lock down three top candidates. I think hart knows who he is gonna hire or already hired him.

As I sit here and read,and read,...there is one coach who seems to be lost in the fray that I think would be GREAT!! In 2 words...TROOPER TAYLOR!! He's got that FIRE in his gut!! (Remember Bruce Pearl?)
