Coiner talks special teams options

Tennessee's preseason camp is only one week old, but special teams coach Charlie Coiner has already seen the emergence of several potentially promising options.

Its not a stupid question until you ask it.

  • Great Q and A Wes. I think maybe this is the first series of quotes I've heard from Coiner. Sounds like a pretty straight shooter. GO VOLS!

BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!

  • Wes wonder why ETSU is opposing the Vols being in Johnson City in chicken little ways? Is it Dave Mullins?

  • " It’s hard to touch Devrin in a phone booth. It’s kind of hard to put your glove on him."

This has got to be one of the best quotes I've heard in a while!

I hate to hear this is happening but I'm not surprised. I graduated from ETSU and I hate to say it but they have a "chicken little" attitude when it comes to football. They are still looking over their shoulder and regretting the decision to dump their football program. They could have done just fine in the Southern Conference had they kept the program. The mini dome was a disaster for the football fan and trying to build a satisfactory outside venue was more than they could handle. It is true that the Tri-Cities love the Vols and pulled from the ETSU fan base but it is that way in a lot of locations. They just have a chip on their shoulder and blame Vol loyalty for the demise of Buc football. Good people. Sad situation. Time to move on and let the past be gone.

"East-Tennis-Shoe" is a wanna-be for sure. Dave Mullins is a poor example for an AD. Former President Paul Stanton pulled the plug on football because it was losing over 1 million dollars a year. He did the right thing for the financial stability of the university. The ex-footballers can't seem to get it. Losing over 1 million a year could bring a school like ETSU down if they let it continue. Even if they wanted to try and bring football back, THEY HAVE NO STADIUM IN WHICH TO PLAY. Johnson City demolished the old Memorial Stadium and Science Hill HS isn't about to let them play in their new stadium (artificial surface). "No way Jose"........The ex players seemed to forget the fact. The athletic department is so envious of UT and what they have and do. I hope the new president Nolan will get the Bucs headed in the right direction and get over their jealousy of the Vols in any sport.

  • I say keep Devrin back there on both returns. He's proven last year his promise and explosive ability and, from the sound of things thus far this year, he's only improved. in my opinion he's the best for the spot.

Very nice interview +1. This guy may be the surprise hire of all the new assistants. ST is a game changer part of a team.
