Coleman focused on earning top spot

Consistently a top-notch practice performer from his first days on UT's campus, sophomore cornerback Justin Coleman plans to translate that production to games this fall.

  • Coleman and the rest of our 2ndary will be practicing against a potentially All Star WR Corp daily and scrimmaging weekly. If they can hold their own against Bray & Co. then they shud help us not hurt us.
Remember last year they were good for giving up at least 1 big play every week. Teague had a bullseye on his back the moment he came out on field from opponents.
Coleman got "burnt" his 1st 2 games a couple of times and had to be "yanked" before he lost what "bit" of confidence he had left.
This 2ndary has a lot of "scars". Let's hope they learned from everyone of them.

  • if you play in the secondary you have to ooze confidence and have a short memory, our guys seemed to kinda get down on themselves and never really recover sometimes last year. maybe growing up a little will help their mindset

Thanks Wes and +1. Don't take this wrong but I am tired of talk. It has more to do with being ready to start the season but it also has to do with now having a show me attitude. I love guys who choose the Orange but it's put up or shut up time.

  • Our secondary won't, I feel, be left on an island as much this season as last. Pressure the QB more and you get better reactions from the secondary. This will develop into a strength.

  • last season our dbs were expected to cover a man forever. you can't expect young dbs to do that in the sec. with more experience and a better pass rush they should be fine. it would not surprise me though if they have a little trouble in the 1st half against nc state then work out some kinks at the half. GO BIG ORANGE!!!

    GO BIG ORANGE!!!

  • Pass rush is the key. You can get away with decent corners if your pash rush is good enough. Example: Giants, pretty much all there corners were hurt but their pass rush is brutal.

+1. That's one of the reasons they call it a 'team sport'.

  • We have the talent back there. I feel like the secondary will make some big plays this year.
